Description

It is essential to enhance CHOC marine safety oversight at the frontline, considering past incidents related to offshore marine operations, many of which are associated with human mistakes and failures in communication. This role will provide proactive safety leadership, conduct inspections on vessel, and offer real-time coaching to marine crews. By integrating Human Performance Improvement (HPI) principles, the advisor will identify both behavioural and systemic factors that contribute to risk and implement tailored interventions to enhance crew awareness, and compliance. This role is essential to safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment while reducing marine-related incidents through focused human performance strategies.

Responsibilities

In summary, the purpose of offshore roving activities is to serve as a key assurance and engagement tool that protects people, assets, and the environment while enhancing the overall effectiveness of offshore marine operations.

The involvement of offshore roving activities aboard the marine vessels at the A-18 Field includes four (4) key focus areas: -

1.Safety Monitoring and Assurance

Actively oversee safety conditions abord vessels to avert incident and promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability within the crew

2. Regulatory and Policy Compliance

Ensure adherence to international maritime regulations, and specific client policies to mitigate legal and operational risks.

3. Coaching and Engagement

Provide opportunities for direct interaction with vessel personnel and supervisors through immediate coaching and open dialogue, reinforcing positive behaviours, clarifying procedural expectations, and addressing knowledge deficiencies. Roving safety personnel will encourage crew members to express concerns, propose enhancements, and engage in safety discussions, thus enhancing overall team cohesion and situation awareness.

4. Data Collection and Reporting

Recorded observations during visits are documented for tracking trends, identify recurring issues, and support data-driven decision-making. This information contributes to safety performance metrics, root cause analyses, and future risk assessments to ensure that observations lead to actionable outcomes and necessarily follow up measures to address identified gaps. This will contribute to strategic improvements in safety, compliance, and operational standards.
