Patient Care Assistant (Inpatient Area) - Positive Work Culture

Job Summary

• Renders care to patients regardless of nature of health problems or patient’s background.
• Works co-operatively with the patient and family members and respect their decisions about their care.
• Provides a good standard of nursing care by being competent, compassionate and caring.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability on complex decisions by referring to staff nurse for safe nursing judgements and actions
• Attends to patient’s toiletry needs, providing bedpan, urinal or assistance to and from bathroom as required.
• Answer’s patient’s call bells to determine patient’s needs.
• Notify all patient’s unusual conditions or reactions to the RN In-Charge.
• Maintains close visual observations on restless patients.

Assists RN :

• During transfer of patient from one ward/ unit to another
• Position / hold the patient during dressings and other procedures.
• Keeps Nurse Manager informed of all activities.
• Accompanies patient to other departments for procedures.
• Delivers equipment’s between departments whenever required.
• Carries out cleaning activities and inventory checks.
• Attend both in-house and external training program for self-development.
• Participates in Emergency Response Codes activities
• Despatch specimen to lab and collect lab results.
• Assist RN to send medication prescription slip and return unused medication to pharmacy.
• Assist RN to collect medication from pharmacy and consumable items from store.
• Send charge sheets to Business Office staff after RN/Clerk have updated charges.

Skills/ Knowledge

• Knowledge in basic nursing care
• Mature, strong sense of responsibility and accountability
• Basic English speaking and writing
• Knowledge in computer skills (advantage)
