Piping Design Engineer - Urgent

Scope of Position

Responsible for piping design, layout, checking of refining, chemical, and facilities projects assigned under direction of the Project Coordinator. This designer will work closely with various discipline designers and discipline engineers to perform and coordinate piping design for projects assigned. Other duties will be as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

1.Conceptual Design

a) Effectively applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in

developing preliminary designs under the supervision of, and subject to,

final approval by the Project Coordinator.

b) Prepares drawings for design-related activities, including:

i. Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).

ii. Plot Plans.

iii. Equipment Location Plans.

iv. 3D Equipment Modeling.

v. 3D Piping Modeling.

vi. 3D Piping Specification Database Entry.

vii. Piping Isometrics.

viii. Piping Plans.

ix. Piping Details.

x. Piping Design and Drafting Checking.

xi. Site Work in Process Facility.

2. Detailed Design

a) Analysis Ability

i) Performs analysis or calculations as assigned.

ii) Designing for Safety incorporated into drawings.

iii) Responsible for design compliance with Owner criteria.

b) Detailing

i) Assists the Project Coordinator with production of specifications.

ii) Assists the Project Coordinator with presentation drawings, and other

deliverables as required by the Project Coordinator.

iii) Code compliance review with design professional.

iv) Maintains discipline checklists for Design Manager to review.

v) Participates in coordination review sessions.

vi) Coordinates work with other disciplines as to dimensions and

interference to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions.

c) Construction Documents

i) Produces well-organized, finished design documents of good

appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness, adhering to team and

discipline standards.

3. Construction Support

a) Subject to final approval of Project Coordinator, checks shop drawings

and submittal data for conformance with contract documents.

b) Advises and assists construction personnel in the interpretation and

clarification of construction documents as directed by the Project

Coordinator, providing timely solutions to field problems, preparing field

orders, addenda, and record drawings subject to approval by the

Project Coordinator.

c) Shop drawings returned on schedule.

d) Responds to field/construction questions as directed by discipline

leader.

e) Creates inspection reports and punch lists.

4. Planning, Scheduling and Profitability

a) Assists the Project Coordinator with drawing planning, production,

management and adherence to schedule.

b) Meets scheduled key dates.

c) Discusses progress regularly with Project Coordinator.

d) Advises Project Coordinator of changes.

e) Design to budget hours.

f) Bid review participation (design vs. estimate).

5.Project Management

a) Project strategy enforcement - proposal, Contract Documents.

b) Records notes of meetings and telephone conversations and review with Project leadership.

c) Adheres to established company standards and policies.

d) Maintains orderly work file, prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence.

e) Assists Project Coordinator by providing required information on timely basis and keeping supervisor apprised as to progress of the work.

Education/Experience

A degree is required. 2 - 5 years experience in process piping design is required.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications Etc.

1. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2015 minimum is required.
2. Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D software is required.
3. Proficiency in Navisworks Simulate software is a plus.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of process plant equipment, piping systems function and interaction, pipe stress, pipe support common practice, and piping layout is required.
5. Process plant layout knowledge is a plus.
6. Computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
7. Ability to work with other designers in a team environment.
8. Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
