Job Purpose

The Piping Inspector is responsible for supervising and inspecting contractors’ and suppliers’ activities related to process piping, utility piping, and mechanical systems. The role ensures that fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, approved procedures, drawings, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect piping fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.


• Ensure the technical integrity of piping and associated mechanical systems.


• Verify material identification, traceability records, and inspection and testing documentation.


• Confirm piping arrangements and alignment comply with approved design requirements.


• Perform final visual and dimensional inspections of completed piping systems.


• Ensure proper implementation of flange management procedures.


• Witness hydrostatic testing of piping systems, mechanical systems, and subsystems.


• Review completed work packs and supporting inspection documentation.


• Verify that documentation required for final acceptance and contract close-out is complete.


• Identify non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions.


• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and practical solutions.


• Coordinate with the QC Superintendent, construction team, and contractor representatives.


• Ensure compliance with project quality, safety, and HSE requirements.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.


• Quality assurance and quality control training is preferred.


• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry.


• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Piping Inspector in Oil and Gas projects.


• Good knowledge of P&IDs, piping isometric drawings, symbols, and specifications.


• Knowledge of ISO 9000 principles and piping inspection and testing practices.


• Basic understanding of construction and commissioning HSE requirements.


• Intermediate English communication skills.


• Strong problem-solving, communication, ethical judgment, flexibility, and proactive working ability.

• API 570 and API 510 inspection certifications are mandatory.


• API 653 inspection certification is preferred.


• Welding Inspector certification is preferred.


• NDT Level II certification is preferred.


• Previous FLNG project experience is preferred.


• Relevant piping inspection experience within the Oil and Gas industry.


• Must be available for business trips to other project work sites when required.


• Must comply with the applicable Contract Mode 3 HSE requirements.
