About the role

The primary role of Production Engineer is to oversee the whole spectrum of production operation in ensuring quality control and quality assurance.

The Production Engineer must have a good technical knowledge in order to support the training for the operation. In addition, he should be capable and be skilled in analysing and evaluating the training requirement. He/she should have excellent planning/organising skills and the tenacity to follow through on training plan activities.The Production Engineer should also have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a matrix organisation.

Working Hours   : 0830am -0530pm [Monday – Friday]
Location             : Section 7 Shah Alam
Reporting to       : Direct report to Asst Production Manager

Key responsibilities

The Production Engineer will support the goals and programs established by the management team to continually improve the company’s operations. Included in the roles and responsibilities of the Production Engineer are:

• Assist Production Manager for overall management of the production department. Provides assistance to the warehousing and raw material receipt personnel as needed.


• Ensure the daily production targets are met.


• Coordinates the short-term production planning to ensure products are manufactured and delivered on time.


• Responsible for process and finish plant efficiency and ensure the yields are achieved.


• Ensure safe working procedures are followed in the process and finishing plants and warehouse.


• Training of production executives, new operators, existing operators and contract workers on new processes/products.


• Trouble shooting/assist in development of new products/processes as well as plant optimisation and improvement.


• Involve in expansion project in terms of designing, constructing and commissioning.


• Ensure good housekeeping in all process plant/packing/finishing areas.


• Ensure quality of intermediates and products are achieved. Assist to investigate on customer complaint with root cause analysis further on corrective action.


• Liaison with government bodies on regulatory/quality matters.


• Act as internal auditor for all the management systems.


• Preparation of plant operating manuals.


• Responsible to ensure all Safety, ISO 9002, ISO 14001, GMP and HACCP system or procedures are implemented and complied. Continuous improvement on documents/checklist.


• Responsible for discipline of all production workers.


• Ensure proper plant operation records/log, breakdowns and raw materials and finished goods stock/inventory.


• Responsible for reporting and recording of production dates.


• Ensure efficient operation of effluent treatment plant.


• Proper communication of changes/new procedure by having toolbox meeting.


• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


• Lead analysis and plant improvement  

Qualifications and skills

• Able to work independent and minimum supervision.


• Result driven and very engaging.


• Fast leaner and good analytical thinking.


• Able to work in shift hours and long working hrs.


• Has a thorough understanding of the plant operation.


• Exhibits an attitude that maintains a motivating work climate.


• Is able to make effective formal presentations with minimal supervision.


• The Production Engineer should be in possession of a Degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university.


• The Production Engineer should be able to demonstrate general knowledge of PCs and common related software.


• Fluency, both written and verbal, in English and Malay.


• The Production Engineer should be able to express ideas effectively in both individual and group situations. In addition, he/she should be able to organize and express ideas clearly in written documents.


• Experience in process development including optimisation and new product introduction.


• Project experience in design, construction and commissioning.


• Working experience with ISO 9001 Quality System, ISO14001, GMP, HACCP & 5S is an advantage.


• Experience in managing people.


• Displays confidence, energizes and inspires others


• Demonstrates an ability to identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives
