Production Manager - Rewarding Work

Job Responsibilities: -

The Production Manager for Plastic Injection Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing the plastic injection moulding production process, ensuring efficient and high-quality production. This role involves managing a team, optimizing production schedules, maintaining equipment, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager ensures compliance with safety standards and meets production targets within budget.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning and Scheduling
   • Develop and implement production schedules specific to plastic injection moulding to meet production targets.
   • Coordinate with the supply chain to ensure raw materials (plastics, additives) are available when needed.
   • Adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in orders or production issues
2. Quality Control
   • Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications for plastic injection moulding.
   • Implement and oversee quality control processes and procedures specific to injection moulding.
   • Address and resolve any quality issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
3. Team Management
   • Supervise and manage production staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
   • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
   • Ensure staff adhere to safety regulations and procedures specific to plastic injection moulding.
4. Process Improvement
   • Identify areas for improvement in the injection moulding process.
   • Implement lean manufacturing practices and other efficiency improvements.
   • Monitor and analyze production metrics to drive continuous improvement, focusing on cycle time, scrap rates, and machine uptime
5. Cost Management
   • Develop and manage production budgets specific to injection moulding operations.
   • Monitor and control production costs to stay within budget.
   • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality
6. Equipment Maintenance
   • Ensure proper maintenance of injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment.
   • Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
   • Collaborate with the maintenance team to address equipment issues promptly
7. Health and Safety
   • Ensure the production facility complies with health and safety regulations.
   • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions specific to the hazards of injection moulding.
   • Address any safety concerns promptly and effectively
8. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (“OEE”) Monitoring and Analysis:
   • Continuously monitor and analyze OEE or equivalent metrics (Availability, Performance, and Quality).
   • Collect and interpret data from various manufacturing processes to identify trends and areas for improvement.
9. Reporting and Communication:
   • Prepare and present regular reports on OEE performance to senior management.
   • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization regarding OEE initiatives and progress.

Inventory Analysis: -

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inventory Management:
   • Monitor and manage inventory levels for all products, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained.
   • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accuracy.
   • Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices.
2. Data Analysis and Reporting:
   • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
   • Prepare and present detailed reports on inventory metrics, such as turnover rates, stock levels, and order fulfilment rates.
3. Optimization and Efficiency:
   • Identify and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
   • Implement strategies to reduce excess and obsolete inventory, improving inventory turnover.
   • Optimize warehouse space utilization and inventory flow.
4. Cost Management:
   • Analyze the cost impact of inventory decisions and strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, operation management, or a related field.
2. At least 5 years (s) of working experience in a similar capacity preferably in the plastic manufacturing environment.
3. Experience in managing staff performance and providing coaching.
4. Understanding of operational excellence principles and tools (e.g., Value Streams or Lean Manufacturing).
5. Proficient in problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques.
6. Skilled in time study and manpower utilization calculation.
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
8. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, manage multiple priorities and work under pressure simultaneously.
9. Experience leading a team and managing foreign workers.
10. Sound knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO9001 and ISO14001.
11. Good knowledge of OSHA and DOE regulations.
12. Proficiency in MS Office mainly MS Excel and able to present analysis and reports.
13. Proficiency in ERP systems is essential.
