Our client is an established, market-leading manufacturer specializing in precision-engineered polymer extrusions, composite architectural profiles, and premium decorative structural components. Operating as a high-capacity, export-oriented subsidiary of a prominent, highly diversified public-listed industrial conglomerate in Malaysia, their modern facility utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques to supply global retail and commercial B2B supply chains. To support their expanding plant operations and lean initiatives, they are seeking an organized, proactive Production & Maintenance Operations Executive.
The Production Manager is a high-impact, hybrid operational role responsible for assisting the plant leadership in driving shopfloor excellence, machinery uptime, and quality compliance. Bridging production control with maintenance reliability and quality engineering, this role is tasked with monitoring daily manufacturing processes, supervising maintenance spare parts/procurement activities, and analyzing quality metrics (NCRs, scrap, and customer feedback) to ensure continuous process improvements in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
1. Production Process Control & Shopfloor Optimization
Operations Oversight: Assist the Operations Manager in monitoring, controlling, and optimizing high-capacity shopfloor processes to meet rigorous output targets and client delivery timelines.
Supervisory Leadership: Supervise and provide technical direction to Production Management Officers, line leaders, and general operators on the floor, fostering a highly disciplined and accountable working culture.
ISO 9001 Compliance: Ensure all production steps, workflows, and operator checklists are meticulously executed and recorded in strict alignment with ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards.
2. Plant Maintenance & Asset Reliability Management
Maintenance Coordination: Manage and review day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance activities across automated processing lines, extrusion systems, and plant utilities.
Spare Parts & Inventory Control: Oversee the spare parts warehouse, maintaining optimal stock levels for critical components (heaters, mechanical cutters, sensors, electrical cards) to prevent unplanned downtime.
Technical Procurement: Source, negotiate, and purchase specialized tooling and maintenance supplies, balancing financial cost-competitiveness with equipment security.
3. Quality Engineering & Continuous Improvement
Metrics & Analytics: Evaluate operational quality trends by compiling and analyzing data on scrap rates, material yields, internal audit results, and process variations.
Defect Mitigation (RCA): Investigate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and customer complaints, leading structured Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Housekeeping & Safety: Lead regular 5S auditing and safety checks within production and toolroom areas, ensuring a safe, clean, and highly organized work environment.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Operations, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 2 years of similar experience; OR Diploma in an engineering discipline with a minimum of years of hands-on experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
Domain Exposure: Direct experience within high-volume plastics extrusion, moulding, wood-composite machining, or packaging manufacturing is highly preferred.
Technical & Personal Skills
Hybrid Technical Acumen: Strong foundational knowledge of both production planning processes and mechanical maintenance operations (including hydraulics, pneumatics, and spare parts cataloging).
Quality Systems: Practical understanding of ISO 9001 standards, structured 5S systems, and basic Root Cause Analysis methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams).
Linguistic & Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to confidently communicate technical procedures to shift operators while preparing detailed metric reports for senior management.
Software Competency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and familiar with production reporting databases or ERP systems.
