This Regional Community General Manager (RCGM) will lead the overall branch management and cross business collaboration to achieve sales growth, profitability of the region, operational efficiency and productivity, customer service excellence, sales and operational risk compliance. Overall decision maker for the region and is responsible and accountable for the P&L. The RCGM will be the lead "face of the bank" in the community that they serve, assuring a visible profile at the appropriate social functions and business development activities while simultaneously developing important strategic relationships for the bank. This role will report to the Head, Business Channels. Functional (job responsibilities)

  • As part of the Bankwide 5Y Business Plan to FY2728, to work with the Head, Business Channels on the AAM (codenamed Project Dragon) to transform Branches as a Growth driver, Sales and Service Centre for the entire franchise, and drive a coordinated, sharp and cohesive roadmap, implementation plan to achieve the Branch transformation strategy.
  • Overall leader and owner of a community of branches within the region
  • Coverage includes C2 & Cluster branches with an average FD & CASA between RM15,000M to RM36,000M and customer base ranging from 150,000 to 450,000.
  • Size of the team average from 7 to 13 direct reports & estimate of 170 sales & operations staff.
  • Responsible for overall "P&L" of the branch community - managing expenses & growing revenue.
  • Assist and drive the business development activities within the branch as well as ensure that service levels are met.
  • Responsible for actively managing, assisting and coordinating Regional Manager Operations, Branch Managers (BMs), Community Business Managers (CBMs), Priority Banking Relationship Managers (PBRMs) and overall branch sales personnel for the region in order to deliver each branch's KRAs & maximize business development opportunities.
  • Drive sustainable growth and acquisition of new customers for Auto Loan, Mortgage, Cards, Unsecured Loans, Investment, SME, Insurance, and selective Hong Leong Financial Group Capabilities (Broking, Asset Management, Investment Banking).
  • Coordinate all bank touch points (in and out of the branch) in efforts to promote the bank.
  • Develop the HLB brand among the community of current and potential customers by working together with product owners to initiate appropriate product campaigns and community sales/marketing events for implementation at branches.
  • Ensure execution of branch business strategies and sales performance deliverables are constantly aligned to the Bank's business direction.
  • To work closely with the Branch Managers to initiate sales strategies and action plans to grow:
    • branch customer base (deposits & new to bank customers)
    • branch customers' product holdings
    • product sales (asset & liability)
  • Identify opportunity to cross-sell and provide referrals and leads for HLB and Hong Leong Group of Companies
  • Monitor and ensure excellent Customer Service Experience (queue time mgmt., SST uptime, low error corrections, good telephone courtesy etc.) through remote tracking, in-person observation, coaching and feedback.
  • Build a strong ethics and compliance culture by working closely with Regional Manager Operations and BUCR to assure Sales & Operational Risk & Compliance Management at the branch e.g. compliance to internal policy & procedures, statutory & regulatory compliance (BNM guidelines, AMLA, FSA), through surprise audits/instilling RCSA discipline.
Managerial (team/group responsibilities)
  • Drive transformation programme management as an expertise, and project manage delivery against timelines
  • Drive and supervise sales and distribution performance, provide coaching and mentoring, and charting productivity uplifts and career development of sales teams
  • Plan, strategies and spearhead sales and distribution programmes/activities to expand the business reach effectively and efficiently while increasing HLB brand awareness
  • Responsible in identifying, retaining talents and hiring of suitable sales and distribution skill sets
  • Plan, organize, mobilize resources to execute on implementation
Organizational (organizational responsibilities) including Strategic Cost Management and Financial Goals
  • Strong ability to collaborate and work with internal partners, navigate the organization to identify drivers, levers to execute on and accelerate delivery
  • Strong entrepreneurial acumen to identify business opportunities and ability to commercialize ideas, innovations
  • Build a strong sales and distribution CoE for all business lines, segments
  • Strong values and grounding in risk controls, compliance requirements
  • Build a world-class talent pipeline to ensure comprehensive leadership and succession across the business
  • Develop a strong strategic logic and linkage to the Bank's digital strategy
  • Strong ability to drive change management
Education/Qualification
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in finance/Mathematics/Economics/Business/Engineering
Experience/Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in general management and heading departments/functional units
  • At least 10 years of experience in banking or financial industry
  • Strong track record in spearheading and executing initiatives and concepts
