Regional Accountant

Role: Regional Accountant

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 

About the role:

The Regional Accountant will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the monthly, quarterly and annual accounts closing, including the preparation, analysis and reporting of balance sheet accounts and related party transactions.

The role includes deployment of Group accounting policies, supporting statutory compliances (audits and tax filings), communication of risk policies and procedures and reporting on accounting system audits.

What you will be doing:  

• Check the monthly, quarterly and annual accounts closing, ensuring compliance with Group policies and timely reporting requirements


• Follow-up and resolve mismatches on intercompany transactions and balances


• Analyse the region’s balance sheets and report for corrective actions on accounts with aged transactions


• Prepare and extract financial information supporting related party transactions


• Attend to ad-hoc Group financial information request including review and information update of accounting system audits


• Assist with internal and external audits and tax returns, ensuring timely sign-off


• Draw up the reconciliation of the management result to audited accounts with clear explanation on reconciling transactions


• Deploy Group’s reporting and risk management processes and procedures and monitoring continuous compliances


• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by reporting manager

What you will need to be great in this role:

• A Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.


• Be Proficient with IFRS and regional local GAAP.


• Have good fundamentals of taxation framework.


• Preferably having worked with cloud-based enterprise accounting and performance management systems.


• Have a minimum 2-3 years of relevant working experience in similar role, preferably within the advertising industry.


• Be attentive to details and able to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial information.


• Be able to review and identify inconsistencies in large amounts of data or information.


• Be able to identify a problem, investigate to find out relevant facts and find a logical solution.


• Be able to structure your efforts to ensure completing tasks efficiently and by required deadlines.


• Be able to convey ideas and information in ways other can understand in both verbal and written communication.


• Be adaptable, works professionally and enjoys working in a team.


• Be willing to accommodate to longer hours during monthly, quarterly and annual closing periods.


• Passion for and inquisitive about AI and new technologies  


• Understanding and knowledge of AI tools is beneficial, but ability to learn and digest benefits and features of AI tools is critical
