The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the expansion into the financial services sector. This role is designed for a professional with a strong background in regulatory compliance, particularly within fintech or crypto environments. You will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the compliance framework while working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring that compliance practices are not only effectively implemented but also evolve with industry standards. Accountabilities
- Lead the application and acquisition process for an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL).
- Design, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Build and promote a strong compliance culture across the business.
- Establish a risk-based compliance framework aligned with business objectives.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage regulatory relationships.
- Oversee compliance monitoring and reporting, ensuring timely updates to leadership.
- Develop training materials and deliver compliance training programs to internal teams.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable financial, regulatory, and cryptocurrency laws in Australia and internationally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in compliance roles, ideally within fintech, crypto, or financial services.
- Deep understanding of ASIC regulatory requirements and licensing processes, including AFSL.
- Demonstrated experience developing compliance strategy, frameworks, and reporting tools.
- Strong regulatory engagement experience and stakeholder communication skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with cryptocurrency, DeFi, or digital asset platforms is a plus.
- Prior success in implementing risk-based compliance programs is desirable.
- Legal qualifications or postgraduate certifications in financial regulation are advantageous.
