Description of School

Tenby International School Setia EcoHill is one of the newer schools in the Tenby family and is set in a wonderful 14-acre campus with outstanding facilities. Purpose of Role 

Tenby Setia Ecohill is keen to employ an enthusiastic and capable teacher for the Secondary Maths department. The school prides itself on a progressive approach to teaching, with lessons including dynamic collaborative activities and a challenging pace. The successful candidate will be able to lead exciting lessons which inspire students to achieve amazing results. 

The Secondary school has been growing quickly over the past 2 years and the IGCSE Maths results have been strong. The successful candidate will be expected to continue this trend and contribute to the wider school life within the Maths Department, such as holding Maths competitions and other extra-curricular activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and delivering engaging lessons that align with the Secondary Maths curriculum (KS3, 4, 5), ensuring comprehensive coverage of mathematical concepts and principles.
  • Collaborating closely with the EAL department to develop strategies and materials that support students with English language barriers, ensuring their full access to the math curriculum.
  • Integrating technology into the curriculum to enhance learning outcomes, including the use of mathematical software and online platforms that support interactive learning.
  • Participating in the creation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs, working in conjunction with the special education department to tailor math instruction that meets these students' requirements.
  • Leading initiatives to foster mathematical curiosity and application beyond the classroom, such as math clubs, competitions, and community projects, encouraging students to apply mathematical concepts in real-world contexts.
  • Developing and implementing assessments that accurately measure student progress and proficiency in mathematics, utilizing a variety of assessment tools to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs within the classroom.
  • Keeping abreast of current research and developments in the field of mathematics education, applying best practices and innovative teaching methodologies to continually enhance the quality of math instruction.
  • Contributing to interdisciplinary projects and lessons that highlight the relevance of mathematics across other subject areas, promoting an integrated approach to learning.
  • Providing targeted support and extension opportunities for gifted and talented students, ensuring they are challenged and engaged at an appropriate level.
  • Engaging in professional learning communities within and beyond the school to share resources, teaching strategies, and collaborative projects focused on enhancing mathematics education.
  • Organizing workshops or informational sessions for parents and caregivers on supporting their children's mathematical development at home, fostering a collaborative partnership between the school and home environments.

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Appropriate degree and teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Bachelor of Education) 
  • At least two to three year's relevant teaching experience 
  • A passion for teaching and a belief in the education of the 'whole child' 
  • High levels of professionalism and care for children 
  • Excellent verbal and written English 
  • Have excellent subject knowledge of the English National Curriculum and IPC
  • Have excellent classroom practice
