AIXTRON’s new manufacturing & engineering hub in Malaysia
We are building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang. The site will provide a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for assembly & testing of our high-end systems and will contribute to engineering for the next generation of products. Operations are planned to start in 2027 with a rapid ramp-up. Beyond technology, the new location is designed as a modern workplace with state-of-the art office and amenities —built to foster collaboration and a strong focus on people's wellbeing.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for purpose-driven builders: hands-on professionals with entrepreneurial spirit who enjoy setting up structures, improving processes and taking ownership in a fast-moving environment. As pioneers of our Malaysia site, you will help to shape not only your function, but also how we work together locally — while being connected to a global team of around 1,000 employees from ~60 nationalities across Asia, Europe and the US. We offer competitive benefits, outstanding technical expertise, development opportunities and training.
About the role
The role of Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer is a core architect of the mechanical and electro‑mechanical backbone behind cutting-edge semiconductor equipment. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on position where you shape complex architectures, engineer precision interfaces, and push the limits of what these systems can do.
You’ll drive robust, high-performance designs across mechanical structures, vacuum assemblies, power pathways, and control interfaces—ensuring every module you touch is manufacturable, serviceable, and built for long‑term reliability. As a key technical owner, you’ll influence system‑level architecture decisions, champion design excellence, and collaborate with cross‑functional experts in manufacturing, service, compliance, and engineering to bring breakthrough hardware to life.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize complex mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies and multi-interface architectures
- Develop robust tolerance concepts and geometric dimensioning strategies
- Integrate vacuum systems, power distribution elements, sensors, actuators and motion components
- Define scalable control architecture and programmable logic controller topology for modular systems
- Lead system-level trade-offs, manage requirements and ensure interface alignment
- Drive Design for Manufacturing and cost-optimized solutions across the product lifecycle
- Conduct structured root cause analysis and support risk assessments such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Manage technical changes within Product Lifecycle Management systems and mitigate cross-module impacts
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, drawings and specifications in English
Qualifications & Skills
