Senior Geophysicist

Ad Terra, a Malaysia based geoscience & engineering consulting firm, is actively looking for a Senior Geophysicist undertakes seismic exploration through the collection, processing, and interpretation of geophysical data for client projects. S/he helps develop knowledge and methods in the field of geophysics through the monitoring of new trends, the publication and review of scientific articles.

Start date: Q1 2026

Key responsibilities

Data acquisition

· Design data acquisition plans

· Define suitable seismic measurements methods

· Adapt data collection methods

Data processing

· Process seismic data

· Define suitable seismic measurements and data-processing methods

· Load, gather, transfer, and organize seismic data

· Conduct quality control of data

Data interpretation

· Conduct geophysical interpretations

· Build and test 3D models

· Map 3D seismic data models

· Make structural interpretation and mapping

· Run forecasts

· Resolve interpretation issues

Projects

· Complete tasks in areas of expertise

· Document progress, setbacks, and new processes

· Establish clear and relevant timesheets

 Reporting

· Generate and write reports, create maps, tables, figures, and summaries

· Review documents, studies, models, and reports prepared by peers

· Report results to managers, clients, partners, etc.

Qualifications and skills:

· University degree (MSc or PhD) in Geophysics or Geology with focus on seismic method, or a related field

· Experience as a geoscientist (min. 8 years)

· Insight into rock physics, AVO, Inversion process

· Intermediate knowledge of Matlab or Python coding and Bash / shell scripting

· Knowledge of seismic processing software such as Seismic Unix / Madagascar / Promax / SeisSpace / Omega / OpendTect / RadExPro / Reveal / Petrel

· Experience in 2D/3D seismic interpretation

· Experience with Velocity Modelling

· Good understanding of the oil and gas industry

· Excellent communication and presentation skills

· Strong numerical and literacy skills

· Systematic and methodical approach

· Able to work efficiently under pressure

· Rigor and organization

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

· Fluent in English (excellent verbal and written proficiency)
