JOB PURPOSE

Managing and maintaining educational facilities such as ISKL is a significant task. Maintaining the school buildings and equipment while meeting health and safety standards is vital to the Facilities Maintenance department.

To achieve this purpose, the Technician supports the Maintenance Manager in the responsibilities to maintain and ensure the service facilities in ISKL are up to the industry’s high safety standards, operations running smoothly, and in good working condition always.

The role requires the incumbent to instill and promote the visions of ISKL while creating a journey of a harmonious environment that leads to learning being stimulated, curiosity sparked, vision cultivated and action inspired. Every action taken in this role must be consistent with the ISKL Mission where it provides the very foundation for our students and its community to develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge, and understanding to become highly successful and socially responsible global citizens.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES inclusive but not limited to

  • To support the Facilities Manager/Chief Engineer in managing all activities for the repair and maintenance of the school.

Technical skills

  • The Facilities technician oversees the buildings and grounds operation, electrical and mechanical functions, utility supply, and all facilities-related elements.
  • A good, all-round knowledge of Maintenance Management disciplines i.e. Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of facilities equipment/building according to the maintenance requirement and guidance.
  • Primarily to ensure all utilities, facilities building, including classrooms, parking lots, event halls, canteen, eating areas, playground, fields, gym, lockers, restrooms, and fixtures are to enforce school rules with regards to safety and health.
  • Assist the Utilities & Facilities Manager/ Chief Engineer in the repair of school furniture and checking of electrical and mechanical fittings.
  • Under the instruction of the facilities engineer, assist in moving school furniture and fittings, and attending to Gofmx requests.
  • Carry out as directed, emergency carpentry, plumbing, painting, or joinery in and around the school.
  • Read and interpret electrical specifications, wiring and circuit diagrams, symbols, and building plans.
  • Carry out periodical maintenance on electrical-related equipment for buildings and facilities including repairing and troubleshooting.
  • Able to switch “ON / OFF” the breakers ACB, MCCB, MCB, CB, RCCB, ELCB, and Switches and restore the power. Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude
  • Electrical knowledge associated with the current carrying capacity of cables, wires, fuses, single-phase circuits, three-phase circuits, earth circuits, insulating, conducting material, switch fuses, isolators, and other protective circuit devices.
  • To ensure power factor following ACT447.
  • Able to communicate and send basic breakdown reports via email or any form of electronic communication.
  • Technology literate - daily response to emails;  Ensure, monitor, update, follow-up, and close the work request/order after repair and attend to the breakdown or request.

  • The ability to establish, implement, and monitor high standards of excellence in areas of quality, safety, and operational performance.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Utilities & Facilities Manager/ Chief Engineer from time to time.
  • To ensure all tools have been returned and maintenance equipment is properly stored and ready for next usage.
  • Perform maintenance procedures of all aspects including condition monitoring, regular inspections and testing, servicing, repairs, and replacement.
  • To be available as part of the Facilities department pool for general work duties
  • To be available if required for maintenance supervision during weekend activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • To have a minimum engineering qualification of Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Chargeman A0/A1 Competency is a MUST.
  • Experience in the related field is a must
  • Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to converse well in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Min. 5 - 7 years working experience in similar duties preferred.
