Team Lead, Bancassurance Specialist
About the Role
The Team Lead, Bancassurance Specialist (TL-BAS) is responsible for leading and driving the bancassurance business through effective team management, strategic planning, and execution of sales initiatives. This role plays a critical part in achieving the Bank’s growth ambitions by building a high-performing BAS team, strengthening sales capabilities, and ensuring disciplined execution across all bancassurance activities.
The TL-BAS will act as both a people leader and a sales driver, providing direction, coaching, and oversight to ensure sustainable business growth, strong compliance culture, and excellent customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Leadership and Business Performance
- Lead and drive the overall bancassurance sales performance of the assigned BAS team, ensuring achievement of both individual and team KPIs.
- Set clear sales targets, monitor performance metrics, and ensure disciplined execution to meet or exceed business goals.
- Drive productivity, participation rates, and conversion ratios across the team.
- Provide hands-on support in key client engagements and complex sales situations to maximize closure rates.
2. Team Management and Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Bancassurance Specialists to build a high-performance sales culture.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement improvement plans where required.
- Mentor team members on sales skills, product knowledge, and customer engagement strategies.
- Foster strong teamwork, accountability, and a results-driven mindset within the team.
3. Talent Acquisition and Capability Building
- Lead the end-to-end hiring process for BAS, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding of high-quality candidates.
- Support new hires in building the required skills and understanding of the sales process to drive effective and consistent performance.
- Identify skill gaps and plan targeted training initiatives to continuously uplift team capabilities.
- Ensure all team members maintain required licensing and certifications.
4. Sales Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans aligned with the Bank’s business priorities and bancassurance growth targets.
- Develop and execute sales activities, including customer events, roadshows, and engagement campaigns, to drive business growth.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and insurance partners to drive and deliver joint sales initiatives.
- Ensure consistent execution of sales processes and best practices across the team.
5. Campaigns and Business Initiatives
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute sales campaigns and initiatives to drive business momentum and pipeline growth.
- Track campaign performance, derive insights, and optimize strategies to improve effectiveness.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and insurance partners to roll out product campaigns and promotional activities.
6. Stakeholder Management and Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders across business units and functions.
- Act as a key liaison with insurance partners to ensure alignment on business objectives and service delivery.
- Support cross-functional initiatives to enhance bancassurance penetration and customer engagement.
7. Customer Experience and Service Excellence
- Ensure the team delivers consistent, high-quality advisory services aligned with customers’ financial needs.
- Oversee the handling of escalated customer issues and ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Promote a customer-centric culture focused on long-term relationship building and satisfaction.
8. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all team activities adhere strictly to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and sales governance standards.
- Monitor sales conduct and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
- Promote a strong culture of ethics, compliance, and risk awareness within the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in bancassurance, insurance sales, or banking, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets and leading high-performing teams.
- Possession of relevant insurance licenses and certifications.
