Technical Advisor - JB Malaysia

Key Responsibilities

• Possess a strong understanding of ISO17025 standards and their application in laboratory operations.
• Ensure timely completion of client testing requirements using internal enterprise systems, overseeing the entire sample lifecycle from receipt to final reporting.
• Provide high-quality technical advice on a range of fuels and lubricants, with a broad knowledge of their production, distribution, and use in the maritime sector.
• Regularly review technical recommendations to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Support clients by investigating root causes of quality issues and advising on corrective actions, especially in cases involving onboard machinery challenges.
• Offer independent support in marine fuel quality disputes, leveraging insights from laboratory testing.
• Monitor and follow up on internal and external client requests to ensure timely resolution.
• Analyze laboratory testing data to identify trends and relationships between parameters, using insights to refine testing strategies; contribute to monthly and quarterly fuel quality reviews.
• Create technical bulletins and alerts about problematic fuels based on test data and client feedback.
• Assist the sales team during client reviews and support the development of new sales strategies.
• Provide technical input on new and upcoming regulations set by the International Maritime Organization, especially those related to marine pollution and environmental standards.
• Contribute to the development of new services or products based on regulatory changes and compliance needs.
• Actively participate in business process evaluations to identify improvements and lead new project planning, coordinating with key stakeholders.
• Support internal audits to ensure laboratory practices align with accreditation standards.
• Develop and deliver technical seminars to inform clients about industry developments and promote available services.

Requirements

• Relevant onboard experience managing marine machinery.
• Experience in marine fuel testing and technical consulting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially regarding marine systems.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in supervisory roles.
• Effective in team environments and capable of managing cross-functional relationships in a fast-paced setting.
