The Vice President of Transport will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to develop, optimize and manage the implementation and profitable growth of the company’s transportation division. In this role, will also support the various stakeholders creating added customer value and generating incremental revenue streams.
He/She is to manage a department which consists of transport management inclusive of customer service, planning, administration and fleet profitability. He/She is to manage and optimized an end to end standard operation procedures that facilitate the delivery of transportation services to the overall business.
He/She will develop strategies in setting priorities, budget, formulate policies and making decision applicable to all area within transport operations, balance capabilities to achieve business objectives.
Work closely with various stakeholders in seeking commercial opportunities from promoting relevant initiatives with customers and responsible for supporting insightful inputs to new business from the transportation piece.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directs department operations (e.g. budgeting, safety programs, site inspections, preventive maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of providing services within established time frames and in compliance with related requirements.
- Inspects all aspects transportation services for the purpose of ensuring that transportation activities are completed efficiently, safety and within regulatory requirements.
- Oversees vehicle preventative maintenance programs and activities for the purpose of ensuring all vehicles are maintained in a safe and effective operating condition.
- Presents information for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
- Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions related to transportation services for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the Company’s goals and objectives.
- Assesses incidents, complaints, etc (e.g. safety issues, transportation routes, legal issues, department staffing, etc.) for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the situation.
- Responds to emergency situations during and after standard hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, counseling, disciplining, directing, training, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving department objectives within budget.
Requirements:
- Should possess a minimum of 10 years experiences in the transportation/supply chain management industry with a proven ability to demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and experience in transportation.
- Must have exposure and experiences with high-level customer service expectations and account recovery scenarios
- Demonstrated experience with leading and managing culture change
- Intimate knowledge of the Bahasa Malaysia nuances and culture with strong communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of Transportation industry and clear understanding and knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing the transportation industry
- Excellent computer applications background including MS Office applications, reporting, analysis and presentations software
- Previous dedicated or private fleet background preferred
- Highly familiar with the current logistics/transportation piece in Malaysia with the relevant industry network with local transporters and authorities.
