Job Description

The Project Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) will be responsible for overseeing and delivering complex projects within United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and adherence to best practices. This role will contribute to the continuous improvement of project management methodologies and governance across the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of multiple projects, from initiation to closure, adhering to UOB Malaysia's PMO frameworks and standards.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with various internal stakeholders, including business units, IT, risk, and compliance teams, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing effective contingency plans.
  • Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and provide regular, clear, and concise reports to senior management and relevant committees.
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring expenditures are within approved limits and reporting on financial performance.
  • Facilitate effective communication channels within project teams and with all stakeholders.
  • Champion the adoption of PMO best practices, tools, and methodologies across the bank.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the PMO's processes and governance structures.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project team members as required.
  • Ensure all projects comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a financial services or banking environment.
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional projects from initiation to closure.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, CSM) are highly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of banking products, services, and regulatory landscape in Malaysia is an advantage.
