World Language Teacher - Bahasa Malaysia (Elementary School)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Instructional Planning and Delivery:
   • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school’s language curriculum and standards.
   • Utilise a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and proficiency levels.
   • Integrate cultural elements into lessons to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of Malaysian culture.
2. Classroom Management:
   • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment conducive to language learning.
   • Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain an organised and productive learning space.
3. Assessment and Evaluation:
   • Regularly assess students' language proficiency through formative and summative assessments.
   • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their progress.
   • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
   • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
   • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate language learning with other subjects and school activities.
   • Participate in school meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning.
5. Student Support and Well-being:
   • Support the academic, social, and emotional development of students.
   • Implement strategies to support diverse learners, including those with varying levels of language proficiency.
   • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
6. Extracurricular Involvement:
   • Participate in school-wide activities and events.
   • Encourage and facilitate student participation in language-related extracurricular activities and cultural events.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, with strong language skills in speaking, reading, and writing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Language Studies, or a related field.
• Teaching certification or licensure appropriate for language instruction at the elementary level.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Bahasa Malaysia to elementary school students.
• Strong understanding of language acquisition and effective language teaching practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools for language instruction.
