Environment & Sustainability Consulting (Consulting & Strategy)

As a Sustainability Executive, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing sustainability strategies within the organization. Your primary responsibility is to drive initiatives that promote environmental, social, and governance ensuring the company's commitment to responsible and ethical business practices.

You will play a part in:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to formulate and implement sustainability strategies aligned with the company's goals and industry best practices.
  • Assist in building and maintaining comprehensive sustainability initiatives and programs across the company.
  • Work with the business areas to develop and review sustainability targets across all ESG elements.
  • Support the group operations and project implementation on ESG related matters.

Environmental Impact Assessment:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of the organization's environmental impact and identify key areas for improvement.
  • Implement strategies to reduce the organization's carbon footprint, waste generation, and resource consumption.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Stay informed about relevant sustainability regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and submit sustainability reports to regulatory bodies, stakeholders and PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB). 
  • Assist in monitoring the ESG rating/scoring by measure, drafting and implementing sustainability efforts and indicators.
  • Establish a robust measurement and reporting system, including data collection/ analysis procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including PDB, NGOs and community organizations, to build partnerships and promote sustainable practices.
  • Coordinate with internal functional custodians or working groups on sustainability strategies, action plans and data; including monitoring/ auditing of the sustainability operational plans.

Employee Training and Awareness:

  • Develop & promote understanding and awareness of sustainability (e.g. trainings, workshops, focus groups) across the MESRA to enhance internal integration of sustainability practices.
  • Foster a culture of sustainability throughout the organization.

Social Responsibility:

  • Develop and manage social responsibility programs that address issues such as diversity and inclusion, community development, and employee well-being.
  • Support initiatives that contribute positively to the communities in which the organization operates.

Others:

  • Perform any other duties reasonably assigned.

Vital skills for this role include:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Mass Communication or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience with solid of sustainability work.
  • Proven experience in sustainability management, specifically within the retail and food & beverage industry.
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting and frameworks.
  • Understanding of environmental issues and sustainability trends.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, content development and copywriting skills.
  • In-depth understanding of environmental, social, and economic sustainability principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess the environmental impact of retail and F&B operations and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt sustainability strategies to the unique needs and challenges of the retail and F&B industry.
