Back End Developer

The International Medical University (IMU) in Malaysia was established in 1992 in line with the Malaysian government's objective of making the country a leading centre of educational excellence in the region and providing more Malaysian students with the opportunity to achieve their aspiration to become healthcare professionals.

Job Responsibilities:

Server-Side Logic:

i. Design and implement the server-side logic of web applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.

ii. Develop and maintain APIs to facilitate seamless communication between the front-end and back-end components.

 

Database Management:

i. Design, implement, and manage database schemas and queries to support the application's data storage and retrieval requirements.

ii. Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity.

 

Integration:

i. Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.

ii. Work closely with system administrators to ensure smooth deployment and integration of back-end services.

 

Security:

i. Implement and maintain security best practices to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.

ii. Conduct regular security assessments and address vulnerabilities proactively.

 

Scalability and Performance:

i. Develop scalable and high-performance back-end solutions to accommodate growing user loads.

ii. Conduct performance testing and optimization to ensure optimal system responsiveness.

 

Troubleshooting and Debugging:

i. Identify and resolve back-end issues, bugs, and bottlenecks in a timely manner.

ii. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and debug complex system issues.

 

Code Reviews:

i. Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, adherence to coding standards, and knowledge sharing within the development team.

ii. Provide constructive feedback to peers and continuously improve coding practices.

 

Documentation:

i. Create and maintain technical documentation for back-end systems, including APIs, databases, and deployment processes.

• Ensure documentation is clear, comprehensive, and accessible to team members

Job Requirements:

Essential

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Information Services required.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on-experience experience in system analysis, software development and implementation experience.
• Exposure and knowledge on web technologies such as Python, PHP, JavaScript (Angular/Vue/React), RESTful APIs and databases such as MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Familiar with Cloud Computing technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience in mobile app development like Ionic or Flutter will be an added advantage.
• Experience and knowledge in low code platforms such as Outsystems, KUBE, Joget, MS Forms or similar will also be considered as an added advantage.

 

Desirable

• Familiar with Version Control System like Git, BitBucket, SVN.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum working culture and understanding SDLC processes.
• Experience in CI/CD or deployment automation tools using Ansible, AWS Beanstalk or Jenkins.
