LABOR RELATIONS SPECIALIST
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
In this exciting role as a Labor Relations Specialist based in Mexico, you will provide professional quality SME advice & execution on Employee &/or Labor Relations matters, managing multiple Employee Relations cases from initiation to resolution, coaching managers and where necessary managing trade union and work councils relationships. The position will work under a hybrid model and needs to constantly visit facilities and offices all through Mexico.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Handles escalated queries from tier 1 and 2 + Tier 3 ER/LR case management & documentation through to resolution with the help of internal Legal function and/or external legal providers
Covers ER/LR inquiry, disciplinary action, progressive performance management, policy breach, investigations, driver standards of conduct, EEOC claims, unemployment and terminations.
On- going monitoring of workplace environment for pro-active identification of potential concerns or issues
Employee and ethics line investigations
Ongoing support and feedback with people managers and employees on employee relations issues.
Ongoing management of relationships with trade unions and works councils + Transactional administration of union contracts
Unemployment paperwork (NA only)
Coordination and management of roundtable process (NA only)
Issuance of termination documents
Severance negotiations where they need high ER support
Continual review of documented processes to ensure consistency across all ER/LR specialists. creation or modification needs are elevated to appropriate levels to include PSP roles
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required + both English and Spanish good conversational level
5+ years progressive experience in HR required with Expertise in unions and all labor relations matters for Mexico
Demonstrated experience of, and focused on, proactively managing customer relationships and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders in a complex, multi-supplier and matrixed environment
Demonstrated understanding of continuous performance measurement
Curious; proactive and capable of maximizing the experience of where do customers ought to be and not where they want to be
Firm and strict with “No” answers when these need to happen.
Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced situations that require sound decision making
High degree of comfort with change, with the skill to easily shift priorities to meet business needs
Strong analysis and problem solving skills, able to carry out root cause analysis
