Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Middle Network Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Guadalajara, Mexico. Our client is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company specializing in discovering, developing, and commercializing prescription medicines. This location aligns with the focus on science and innovation, providing proximity to leading academic and research institutions.The candidate is expected to work as a network engineer for an extensive network support and maintenance function spanning several continents. The candidate should possess broad functional knowledge in his/her domain and technical knowledge in relevant network operations. You should have proven expertise in working within a team for network operational support and remediation activities. You will be responsible for network monitoring, troubleshooting, and break-fix incidents/changes, primarily on Cisco technologies, with additional load balancer, firewall, proxy, and wireless services.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience performing various network operations and troubleshooting tasks.
  • 3-5 years of experience configuring/administrating Cisco routers, Switches (Cisco/RUCKUS), Firewall (ASA/Check Point Software/Firepower), NetScaler load balancer, and Zscaler cloud-based proxy.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the following technologies:
    • LAN/switching: Cisco Catalyst series switches, Cisco VSS technology, Nexus switches, RUCKUS switches;
    • Routing: policy-based routing, Intelligent WAN (iWAN) technology, Cisco SDWAN, handling Cisco, ISR/ASR routers, knowledge of dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP/OSPF;
    • Security: ASA, Check Point firewalls, Cisco ZBF, Zscaler;
    • Load balancer: NetScaler load balancer.
  • Knowledge of any troubleshooting tool like NetBrain or any other equivalent tool.
  • Knowledge of any one NMS tool like SolarWinds.
  • Experience on any of one log analysis tools like Splunk, Kiwi, or other equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal with excellent presentation skills).
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet the delivery targets set by management.
  • Fix proactive-reactive incidents/SR/changes/SIP related to network and network security technologies (Switching/Routing/Firewall/LB/Cloud).
  • Ensure delivery is within and better than prescribed SLA levels and help establish processes for continuous service improvement.
  • Support, maintain & improve user experience in network connectivity.
  • Provide accurate, timely diagnosis & rectification of user’s network faults.
  • Monitor network events through world-class monitoring tools and acknowledge/fix the alert incidents.
  • Track and provide progress-chasing of incidents to conclusion & in line with SLA and quality standards.
  • Perform within an ITIL environment for change and incident management.
  • Handle incidents raised by alerts/service desk/end users and fulfill requests through the service catalog.
  • Work along with onsite network engineers to perform any Layer 1 troubleshooting.
  • Document knowledge articles for critical incidents/changes.
  • Operate on automation initiatives and LEAN projects within the network operations domain.
  • Prepare network reports for the daily/weekly/monthly management meeting.
  • Raise expedited change for incident break fixes and implement the changes after necessary approvals.

Will be a plus:

  • Strong knowledge of routing/Firewall devices from ISP environment.
  • Working experience in scripting languages like Python, Perl, TCL, or any other language.
  • Understanding of network automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning & neural networks.
  • Good knowledge of incident management/change management/problem management processes.
  • Knowledge of ticketing systems like Remedy and SNOW.
  • CCNA(R/S or Security) certification and CCNP/CCSA/CCSE and ITIL certifications.
  • Experience working in a globally distributed team.
  • Ability to learn new technological trends/concepts.
  • Good experience in using Microsoft Visio.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • The willingness to work in a team environment.
