THE COMPANY

Our client is a North America leader in residential consumer goods headquartered in the USA who is undergoing market share growth in North America. This manufacturing leader is growing as a result of new product initiatives, new brands, entry into new customer segments and new sales channels. They seek a Plant Controller to provide accounting and finance leadership and oversight for three manufacturing plants in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico campus.

THE POSITION
Job Summary
Establish and maintain a robust internal controls environment for Mexico manufacturing operations. This includes financial controls, purchasing controls, inventory controls and controls over reconciliation of Annex 24 import/export systems. Key member of leadership team driving accountability and achievement of operational and financial goals of the company. This position works out of the Ciudad Juarez, Chih. Mexico campus.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the accounting & finance function for Mexico manufacturing operations.
  • Establish and implement controls and procedures to maintain a robust financial control environment for the operations.
  • Responsible for managing Mexico statutory reporting, income tax and VAT reporting & compliance.
  • A key member of the leadership team who partners with corporate and site leadership to establish and achieve financial and operational goals.
  • Responsible for preparation of the monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and corporate requirements. Analyze and review financial results with plant leadership team to identify opportunities and drive financial performance of the plant.
  • Analyzes data and perform variance analysis, determines root causes and directs action plans to achieve cost, efficiency, and operational improvements.
  • Partner with corporate and site leadership team to establish, monitor and action Key Performance Indicators for the operations.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on capital expenditures that achieve the maximum ROI and/or Payback.
  • Establish,maintaining, and improve inventory controls and procedures to ensure compliance and financial control.
    • Ensure compliance with Mexico inventory reporting requirements (IMMEX Program)
    • Review reconciliations of Annex 24 system data to perpetual inventory records and ensure data is in sync.
    • Ensure inventory transactions are recorded accurately and timely to perpetual and book records
    • Perform periodic book to perpetual inventory reconciliations
    • Direct physical inventory and/or cycle count procedures as required.
  • Establish and implement procedures to identify, record, and liquidate Excess & Obsolete inventory. Work cross functionally with sales, sourcing, and production teams to establish processes to minimize on hand inventory levels and cost of write-downs.
  • Administers, maintains, and improves internal controls in accordance with corporate policy and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements within the facility.
  • Partner with corporate and site leadership team to develop and achieve the annual operating plans.
  • Works with facility leadership on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supervises and directs office workforce and fosters a continuous improvement culture.

THE CANDIDATE

Education And Experience Required:

  • B.A. Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 7 years accounting / finance experience in a manufacturing and maquiladora environment. At least 5 years as a hands-on Controller and/or Sr. Finance Manager.
  • Solid background in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and cost accounting /analysis.
  • Solid experience with accounting and working knowledge of Mexico fiscal accounting. Understanding of VAT.
  • Knowledge of IMMEX and annex 24 rules for maquiladoras. Must have in depth knowledge of Mexico regulatorycompliance issues.
  • Strong internal controls experience.
  • Familiar with U.S. and Mexico cultural norms.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and accountability.Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Demonstrated Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration.
  • Practices accountability and holds others accountable.
  • Management/supervisory experience required.
  • Idealcandidate will be dynamic, results-oriented and ahands-on roll-up your sleeves Controller and will enjoy being a business partner to the Campus General Manager.
  • Fluent in both Spanish & English
  • ERP andStrong Excel.SAP a plus.
  • Valid U.S. Visa.
