Job Description - Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer (Electrical)

Location: Agriport 109, 1775 TA Middenmeer, Netherlands

Schedule: Flexible shifts (including 12-hour, rotating shifts, 35 hour work weeks)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer (Electrical) to support critical data center operations in Middenmeer. This role focuses on electrical infrastructure, preventative maintenance, monitoring, and ensuring safe and reliable operation of mission-critical systems.

The ideal candidate has hands-on data center experience and a strong understanding of electrical systems within high-availability environments.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Monitoring

  1. Perform daily operational rounds and log electrical readings (temperature, voltage, current, etc.)
  2. Monitor performance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems
  3. Conduct initial equipment assessments under supervision
  4. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for planned critical environment work
  5. Assist with emergency monitoring and response using Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)

Electrical Systems & Maintenance

  1. Support electrical infrastructure across the data center campus
  2. Perform UPS preventative maintenance (quarterly & annual)
  3. Conduct battery and system control panel preventative maintenance
  4. Assist with troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and calibration of instrument sensors
  5. Energize cabinets within colocation environments

Perform:

- Remote Power Panel (RPP) single-source shutdowns

- PDU shutdowns for meter replacement

- Power Interruption Testing (PIT)

- Master controller shutdowns or replacements

Safety & Compliance

  1. Escort third-party contractors, vendors, and service providers onsite
  2. Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and physical security policies
  3. Maintain compliance with NFPA 70E and electrical safety standards
  4. Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)

Required Qualifications

  1. Previous data center experience (required)
  2. Valid OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E certification (required)
  3. 5+ years of technical experience (electrical, automotive, controls, data center, or related field)
  4. Experience working with electrical systems in high-availability environments such as:

- Data centers

- Oil & gas

- Hospitals

- Pharmaceutical facilities

- Manufacturing or critical infrastructure

  1. Experience with Building Management Systems (EPMS)
  2. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  3. Ability to work flexible schedules including rotating 12-hour shifts

Preferred Skills

  1. Strong troubleshooting capabilities
  2. Experience with mission-critical power systems
  3. Understanding of critical load management in redundant (N) environments
  4. Detail-oriented with strong safety awareness
