What this job is all about

Every day, we work hard to make a positive difference to our customers in the FinTech world of payments. As a Financial Controller, you have a joint responsibility for internal management reporting, shareholder reporting and external reporting (DNB). 

Getting the right things done! 

As a Financial Controller the following will be part of your major tasks and responsibilities:

• Coordinate periodic financial closing, statutory reporting and fiscal responsibilities, manage external audit;
• Manage annual budgeting and (re)forecasting process, cost control and budget reviews with Functional Leaders;
• Improvement projects related to digital and financial transformation and investment/business cases;
• Coordinate the business planning process while working closely together with Management and the Business Controller;
• Analyze and report on the monthly performance of actuals vs. budget and discuss these variances with the Functional Leaders in the monthly budget reviews.

You will report to the Finance Team Manager and work closely together with your Team and the CFO. The professional team members work closely together and challenge each other on an ongoing basis. EMS offers a dynamic, professional, informal environment and short lines of communication.

What do you bring to the table?

What do you need to be successful at our organisation? Well, you have to enjoy changing gears quickly and getting your teeth into complex projects. 

In addition, we ask for the following: 

• A bachelor degree in Finance, (Business) Economics or Accountancy or equivalent, preferably supplemented with a post-Bachelor (or Master) qualification;
• 3-5 years of experience as a Financial Controller or Accountancy; preferably experience with(in) Tech, Payments, E-commerce and/or Financials Services;
• Good insight in financial accounting and reporting processes (Dutch GAAP), combined with business sense;
• Strong affinity with IT and financial tooling; strong Excel skills, experience with SAP and Hyperion is a plus;
• Experience with process improvement projects and/or implementation is a plus
• Excellent communication skills in English;
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form working relationships and gain credibility. A clear, to-the-point communicator with a practical, no-nonsense mentality;
• Organizational aware, able to maintain a broad formal and informal network;
• Above all, a great colleague, no ego issues, honest, committed, result focused, a team player who wants to achieve the best results together.
