Shipping Manager

What will you be doing? As a Shipping Manager you are responsible for the entire logistics process of export projects from tender stage until the operational transfer of the project to the forwarding department. Independently and with a drive to win he/she prepares projects successfully. Where needed, and in case of problems during execution, the Shipping Manager continues to play a supporting and advisory role. He/she works as a business partner for both the internal organization as well as the external stakeholders, including customers. By acting proactively, he/she gives the customers piece of mind and manages the expectations of the parties involved. The guiding principle is that the order goes smoothly, is on time, complete and delivered within budget. The shipping Manager works from Veghel and is willing to travel to when needed (max 10% of your time). He/She is part of the Contracting & Routing Team and reports to the Senior Shipping Manager. Responsibilities If you’re an experienced, enthusiastic, and versatile Shipping Manager, you will excel at: Sales Stage:

• In consultation with customer and sales department / project management he/she determines the logistics strategy and the associated logistics plan and the acceptance of the plan by the stakeholders.
• Determine the transport and packaging costs and taxes and duties for projects and the associated risk assessment.

Preparation phase: • In consultation with project management, Supply Chain and Procurement department determine the best supply chain and lanes.

• Negotiating with. and selection of, the appropriate transport service providers
• Capture the logistical arrangements for the operational implementation in a shipping plan, including determining proper documentation for import and export shipments and to establish various cross trades

Operational phase:

• Supporting Forwarding in the execution of the order.
• Instructing and advising suppliers on logistics issues

General:

• Steer on continuous improvement and KPI’s and improve sustainability within the department
• Identify, propose and implement process and logistical improvements. Translate wishes of (internal) customers and suppliers into solutions.
• Remain up to date on developments in logistics by following training and maintaining logistical relations inside and outside Vanderlande.
• Advise (globally) on Logistics, customs, export compliancy and in- and export related topics.

What do we ask from you? HBO/WO educated in Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a relevant international logistical environment Strong stakeholder management skills Planning and organisation Result oriented Flexibility and adjustability Teamplay Negotiating Individual and team leadership An excellent communicator in English (and preferably also in Dutch) About the team Within the team of the European Distribution Center of Vanderlande, the contracts & routing team is located.
