Job Description - Associate Scientist

We are currently looking for an Associate Scientist to join our team and help ensure that dsm-firmenich Biomedical products maintain consistent and high quality. In this role, you will be responsible for tasks related to the chemical synthesis, development, scale-up, testing, and/or manufacturing of polymers, medical device materials, products, or technologies -- all in compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Assist with product and process development activities for feasibility and development projects through polymer processing (e.g. extrusion), formulation development, and characterization. Assist in establishing standard operating procedures for chemical processes of new polymer-based products. Develop a fundamental understanding of applicable chemical and application tests by executing DOE's and test protocols required to evaluate parameters of new and existing chemical / polymer manufacturing processes. Conduct experiments related to evaluating new technologies, polymers, biomaterials for medical implants or devices. Tabulate data and summarize results based on completed experiments and/or tests. Interface with internal supporting groups and labs active in product development, product testing and process development as needed. You Bring Bachelor's degree or equivalent by experience with 10+ years of experience in polymer processing. Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment governed by Quality Systems, with know-how of operating within the Medical Device Industry and related quality standards (e.g., ISO13485, cGMP). Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders on a technical level. Basic project and task management capabilities, along with solid computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook). A proactive, responsible attitude with a strong drive for results and continuous improvement. A collaborative mindset, with a willingness to support team members and contribute to shared goals.
