Job Description - Associate Transition Accelerator

At ING, we put great value on developing our own people before looking externally. If you believe this is the right next step in your career, we warmly encourage you to apply. If you have questions, or would like to understand more before applying, please don’t hesitate to contact the responsible recruiter.

Do you want to help scale the solutions that will shape tomorrow’s economy? Are you energised by working with clients who operate at the forefront of sustainability and innovation? Do you enjoy analytical challenges and building financial structures that support new and fast‑growing markets?

If so, the Transition Accelerator offers an exceptional opportunity to make an impact.

The Transition Accelerator (TA) is ING’s cross‑sectoral business incubator, dedicated to mobilising capital to scale up new sustainable technologies and markets. We support clients whose solutions are driving the transition to a low‑carbon, circular and nature‑positive economy, and we help build markets that are not yet “business as usual”.

We focus on four key themes:

  • ·Clean Mobility – EV charging networks, fleet electrification and enabling infrastructure

  • ·Industrial Innovation – electrification of heat, energy and resource efficiency, industrial carbon capture, and low‑carbon baseload solutions

  • ·Sustainable Materials – circular plastics and metals, recycling technologies, advanced and bio‑based materials

  • ·Nature-Based Infrastructure – nature-based carbon removal and climate‑resilient green infrastructure

  • Our approach is product‑agnostic and hands‑on. We originate, structure and execute a wide range of advisory and financing solutions, whichever tools best support scalable impact.

Your Role

As an Analyst/Associate in the Transition Accelerator team, you will play a key role in both origination and execution. Your work will include:

  • Analysis and Structuring
    • Conducting financial modelling, market and credit analysis, and assessing bankability of early‑stage and first-of-a-kind opportunities
    • Supporting the structuring of a wide spectrum of financing solutions, tailored to emerging technologies and business models
  • Transaction Execution
    • Preparing internal materials for commercial “greenlight” and credit approvals
    • Coordinating with internal stakeholders across risk, legal, tax, product teams, Sector Coverage and SSG country teams
    • Supporting execution processes end‑to‑end, ensuring smooth and timely closing of mandates
  • Market and Proposition Development
    • Monitoring technology, policy and market developments to identify new opportunities
    • Contributing to the development of new propositions, investment approaches and market‑shaping concepts
    • Building knowledge and insights across TA’s thematic verticals
  • Collaboration and Engagement
    • Working closely with colleagues from Sector Coverage, Sustainability and Products to ensure aligned commercial efforts
    • Engaging with clients, ecosystem players and external partners to help position ING at the forefront of emerging sustainable markets

Competencies

You are motivated by purpose and energized by complexity. You enjoy diving deep into new topics, testing ideas, and helping clients accelerate their transition.

  • ·Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to structure complex information

  • ·Curiosity for technology, sustainability and evolving market models

  • ·A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and a drive to get things done

  • ·Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to tailor your message to different audiences

  • ·The ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, international and multidisciplinary environment

Experience in project finance, corporate finance, renewable energy, carbon markets or industrial technologies is an advantage, but a learning mindset and intellectual agility are equally important.

Rewards and Benefits

At ING we want you to find the right balance between your career and your personal life. You can find more information on our employment conditions at: https://careers.ing.com/en/benefits-NL

  • 13th month salary
  • Pension scheme and Individual Savings Contribution (BIS)
  • 8% holiday payment
  • Hybrid working – combining focus from home with collaboration in the office
  • Plenty of opportunities for personal growth and development
  • An informal and inclusive working environment with passionate colleagues
