Title: Experiential AV Consultant

Reports to: AV Engineering Manager

Primary Job Description:

The Senior AV Consultant will design, document, and coordinate the installation/commissioning of the technical solutions that support interactive systems in built environments across specific key projects in tandem with Downstream Project Managers. This person will work with the engineering, development, and design teams to ensure both the Downstream and client design intent remains intact throughout project implementation. This person will have in-depth experience in the commissioning of complex AV systems and/or experience with systems design documentation.

Requirements:

Must have at least 6-8 years of experience in most of the following:

• AV systems basics including video arrays, audio and video signal processing and distribution, Crestron/AMX/IP-based control systems


• 6-8 years of audio-visual systems design documentation using AutoCAD (bonus if in Revit)


• Complex edge blending and warping projection design


• Touch based interactive displays


• Video over IP and HdBaseT video distribution


• Videowall processors


• LED videowall design and familiarity with custom mounting solutions


• Windows OS System Commissioning


• Excellent written communication and customer service skills


• On-site systems commissioning and installation experience – Soldering, projector alignment, workstation configuration, application and content loading, AV Integrator oversight and review, etc)

Responsibilities:

Design

• Serving as a lead Audio/Visual Consultant to clients and contractors to maintain design intent and technology best practices


• Collaborate and QC the AV Eng department’s work


• Produce design documentation for use in AV system installations, to include schematic signal flow diagrams, bill of materials, facility design drawings, projection geometry details, bid specs, and detailed wiring diagrams for audio and control systems


• Research and specify hardware solutions for video distribution, video processing, motion tracking, and user interaction


• Collaborate with Downstream design team as an Audio/Visual Consultant to integrate technology into the built environment


• Aid with in-studio build-out of project prototypes and mockups (i.e. projector/mounting, Unistrut assembly, ability to lift over 75 lbs, cabling)


• Develop cost estimates for hardware, system design, and installation


• Provide end-to-end design, implementation, testing and on-site installation, including oversight of AV sub-contractors, and provide client training


• On-site Systems Commissioning of DS content and interactive applications while providing consultant review and management of AV Integration SOW


• Travel approximately 20-30% of the time for global projects is required.

5 Measures of Success in this Position:

• Demonstrate increase in departmental proficiency by completing projects in budget, on schedule, and accurately


• Lead migration of audio-visual documentation from solely Autocad workflow to a Revit workflow


• Demonstrate team leadership with training, team building exercises, internal check-ins


• Providing key recommendations to the Technical Principal and AV Engineering Manager to increase capabilities and lead innovation


• Continue to design award-winning design as Lead AV Consultant on key projects

Location

The Downstream AV team is based in Portland, Oregon, USA. Our business hours are in Pacific Time. However, this position is open to English speakers across Pacific or Eastern time zones to ensure that we’re able to have live sessions at reasonable times of the day. At this time, Downstream does not sponsor work visas.
