Backup & Cyber Recovery Engineer

As a Backup and Cyber Recovery Engineer at NN, an international financial institution active in over ten countries, you will ensure that we remain resilient against cyber incidents. Based in The Hague, you will help safeguard our services for millions of customers worldwide.

What you are going to do

In this role, you will design and improve backup and recovery solutions, ensuring that critical data can be recovered quickly and securely in the face of cyber threats. You will:

• Design, implement and manage enterprise backup solutions and cyber recovery vaults
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure and compliance teams to align with DORA, NIS2 and NN policies
• Automate backup and recovery workflows using scripting and orchestration tools
• Run cyber recovery simulations and disaster recovery tests with IT and business units
• Provide 24/7 support, including ticketing and on-call shifts

Who you are

You are an IT engineer with proven experience in enterprise backup or storage solutions. As a team player, you can communicate effectively and lead by example. You also have:

• Skill with Azure, AWS or VMware platforms
• Proficiency in scripting and automation
• Familiarity with cyber recovery methods, immutable backups and ransomware
• A calm demeanour, good analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot under pressure

Who you will work with

You will join our MIaaS department in The Hague, a DevOps organisation with several specialist teams. The newly established Backup & Cyber DevOps team is at the heart of NN’s cyber resilience efforts, where cooperation, ownership and a forward-looking mindset are central.
