About the Role

We are looking for a Business Developer to join our Carbon Desk and play a key role in identifying, analyzing, and communicating developments in global carbon markets, both internally and to our clients.

You will monitor regulatory, policy, and market developments across the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), EU ETS, and emerging frameworks like CBAM, Article 6 and CORSIA, turning these into concrete commercial opportunities. You’ll work closely with our trading and sales teams and engage directly with clients, helping them understand complex market dynamics and structure carbon strategies that meet their needs.

This role blends market intelligence, commercial strategy, and client engagement—ideal for someone who enjoys both deep analysis and dynamic communication. 

Key Responsibilities

• Track and interpret developments in carbon markets (VCM, EU ETS, CBAM, etc.), including policy, pricing, and market structures;


• Translate regulatory and market insights into commercial opportunities for both internal teams and external clients;


• Conduct deep research on carbon project types, methodologies, registries, and emerging market mechanisms;


• Support the development of carbon offset strategies for clients, including sourcing and structuring of projects;


• Build pricing models and forecasts to inform origination and trading decisions;


• Maintain and enhance internal tools and databases used to track supply-demand dynamics and pricing trends;


• Create concise reports, presentations, and briefings tailored to commercial use cases;


• Engage with clients to explain market developments and present tailored insights and recommendations.

About You

• Minimum 2 years of experience in carbon markets, environmental finance, or sustainability consulting (VCM experience preferred);


• Relevant Master’s degree (e.g. Economics, Environmental Finance, Business, Energy Systems, etc.);


• Strong analytical and research capabilities, with the ability to turn complex information into clear commercial narratives;


• Experience working with market data, regulatory developments, or carbon project pipelines;


• Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Python, SQL, or BI tools (e.g. Power BI) is a plus;


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages (e.g. Spanish, French, Portuguese or Mandarin) are an advantage;


• Client-oriented mindset with a proactive and collaborative approach.
