Are you excited about designing, programming and commissioning PLC controls? Ready to take your career to the next level in a dynamic, international environment? Ready to make an impact? Apply today!
Your impact:
As a Senior Controls Project Engineer (PLC), you are responsible for designing, programming and commissioning PLC-controlled material handling systems for our service and modification projects. You will work from our office in Veghel and play a key role in optimizing and expanding existing live systems.
After your onboarding, where you learn Vanderlande’s engineering way of working, you will contribute to projects such as system modifications and expansions. This includes integrating new equipment into existing operational environments, where phasing, logistics and system continuity are critical.
During the engineering phase, you collaborate closely with Sales Engineers and a multidisciplinary project team to define the system design and functional specifications. Once the design is approved by the customer, you take ownership of the detailed engineering, PLC programming and system specifications required for manufacturing and implementation.
When the engineering phase is completed, you will regularly travel to customer sites worldwide to commission systems. During this phase, you:
Perform functional testing of PLC hardware and software
Integrate your solution into the overall control system
Support system validation and customer acceptance testing
You often work in complex, live environments where unexpected challenges can arise. Together with your team, you ensure systems are delivered and commissioned successfully and on time. With your experience, you are able to independently execute full controls engineering while also supporting multiple projects and technical leads simultaneously.
Your department
The Project Engineering department is responsible for the worldwide execution of warehousing and service projects. These projects focus on modifying, upgrading and optimizing existing material handling systems, integrating mechanical, electrical and controls solutions into one seamless operation.
What makes you a great fit?
HBO degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science or Controls Technology
At least 3 years of experience in a similar role (senior level preferred)
Strong knowledge of PLC systems, including Siemens S7, STEP7 and TIA Portal
Experience with industrial networks such as Profinet, AS-i and Profibus
Ability to work independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams
Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
Proactive, hands-on and solution-oriented attitude
Willingness to travel internationally (up to 35% of your time)
Good command of English; Dutch is a plus
What you can look forward to:
In this challenging and responsible role, you will contribute to industry-leading projects and work with skilled and dedicated colleagues and customers worldwide. You will join an informal, international and professional environment with plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
This position offers a competitive salary range of €4,900 to €6,200 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance), plus a comprehensive travel allowance. Exceptional performance can lead to growth beyond this scale.
On top of your fixed salary, you’ll receive:
40 vacation days (20 statutory + 20 flexible via budget)
Flexible working hours
Hybrid working environment (40% remote / 60% office)
€300 annual Health & Wellbeing budget
Full public transport reimbursement and commuting allowance
