Your job

As a Business Strategy Consultant you will work as part of an experienced and ambitious team on specific components of a project conducted within ABN AMRO CB. The team originates from a wide range of backgrounds, both from inside ABN AMRO and externally (e.g. external strategy consultancy). The team has conducted numerous projects, working on a wide range of subjects such as:

• Near & long-term vision and strategic agenda for Corporate Banking – supporting CB Management Team in driving and prioritizing the vision and strategic agenda based on outside-in assessment of emerging trends (e.g. AI, DeFi), relative performance benchmarks and capability assessments


• CB AI strategy: assess the impact of AI on our business model and determine where to focus and prioritise  


• Inorganic growth options, including specific strategic assessment of M&A opportunities from a CB perspective


• Organisational (re)design and new service model development for the CB client segment


• Identifying growth opportunities, including creating new business models and building solid business cases to underpin the plans


• Representing Corporate banking in bankwide strategic programs
  
  

Your contributions will directly support CB’s strategic direction, allowing you to see the tangible results of your efforts on CB’s success and client satisfaction.

Working environment

Corporate Banking (CB) Business Strategy is an internal strategy consulting team that supports CB Management Team in developing and steering the strategic agenda for CB. In an evolving financial landscape shaped by AI, new competitors, regulation, and geopolitical uncertainty, the team plays a key role in proactively positioning CB for the future. At ABN AMRO, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, and courage, ensuring that our strategic initiatives align with our values and contribute positively to society. The team works on high‑impact strategic topics, ranging from market and competitor analyses to the development of strategic scenarios and the design of structural improvement initiatives within CB. Through close collaboration with CB’s Chief Commercial Officer, CB Management Team, CB Finance the strategic direction of CB is effectively shaped and realised in an environment rapidly evolving due to customer needs, technology and regulation.

The team plays an active role in strategy execution and its monitoring. The team resides within the Strategy & Transformation department of ABN AMRO which reports directly to the CEO. By being positioned within Strategy & Transformation, the team benefits from the expertise and scale of the broader organisation, including Group Strategy, Strategy Execution & Implementation, Strategic Portfolio Management and the Personal & Business Banking and Wealth Management Business Strategy teams.

You will be joining a team of 4-6 consultants, working hybrid out of our Amsterdam HQ and home office (typically 50/50). Your profile

As a CB business strategy consultant you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of CB. You identify trends and developments in customer needs, technology, geopolitics and competition, impacting our strategy. You provide guidance to teams engaged in the projects you work on and ensure knowledge is shared within the organisation. You create a fact and logic driven basis for taking strategic (investment) decisions and for developing implementation proposals. The consultant role is a challenging and demanding role. Therefore we are looking for highly talented and enthusiastic colleagues matching the following description:

Knowledge and experience

• Excellent academic track record (Master degree); degree(s) with a strong quantitative component preferred


• Preferably 3-5 years of experience in a Top Tier Consulting firm, the financial industry, or in a strategic position at a large corporate.


• Strong English language skills, both written and spoken


• Proven affinity or connection with the Netherlands. Examples include the ability to speak Dutch, previous study or work experience and/or a personal connection to the Netherlands

• An attractive gross monthly salary (min. Eur. 6.066 – max Eur. 8.666) based on a 36 hour work week, including holiday allowance and a flexible benefit budget. A 40 hour work is also possible.
