Job Description :

Reports to : Director BU Container.

Line Management Responsibility :

• Head of Global M&R.

• Global Fleet Manager.

• Technical & Purchasing Director.

Location : Hamburg/Germany or Rotterdam/Netherlands.

Key Tasks and Activities :

• Business process ownership for the defined line management functions as listed.

• Creation, implementation and maintenance/continuous improvement (KAIZEN) of the BU’s operational policies & procedures in connection to the line management responsibilities.

• Ensure that global operations are in accordance with local and international regulatory/legislation requirements and the BU’s procedures & policies.

• M&R :

- Management of the global Tankcontainer depot network/infrastructure to adequately support the BU’s business activities/requirements.

- Management of the depot M&R cycle (turn-around time; from off-hire to available), repair trends, inventory and related costs against set KPIs.

- Ensure costs efficiency of the global depot network and the related activities such as the storage, handling, repair costs and repair time tariffs including budget responsibility for M&R related costs.

• Fleet Management :

- Idle Fleet Management with the goal to maximize utilization under consideration of economical, commercial and operational parameters.

- Management and execution of global positioning activities.

- Own the fleet exit process (Sale/Scrap) and manage the re-marketing of old equipment with the goal to maximize income on old assets.

• T&P (Technical & Purchasing)

- Management of purchasing process of new equipment from specification to delivery of available equipment incl. quality control.

- Management of technical equipment master data in relevant IT applications.

- Management of major equipment modification initiatives in cooperation with account management and M&R.
 

• Representation of BU in industry organisations reg. operational/technical matters.

• Employee management; resource and productivity planning, supervision, performance review, development, training and coaching.

• Regular travel within the regions of responsibilities and to areas where necessary, to fulfil the functional responsibilities as described above.

• Manage and support any other task/project as required by the management

Candidate Requirements:

Qualifications Required :

• A recognised education/qualification in a technical and/or management capacity with a degree (M.B.A./University Diploma).

• Relevant work experience within the Tankcontainer industry / Container leasing industry in a senior operational management role.

• Experience in operational process design.

Key Skills/Knowledge Required:

• Experience/Know-How/Network in the container leasing/shipping/transportation/depot/manufacturing industry.

• Technical knowledge/understanding of ISO Tank Containers, as well as profound knowledge around all processes supporting Tank Container operations.

• Experience in leadership and people management of geographical distributed teams.

• Ability to define long-term operational strategy and translate them into actionable global plans.

• Analytical skills for data driven decision making and pro-active problem solver mentality.

• Experience in process optimization (LEAN, KAIZEN) to build processes for multi-country service delivery.

• Capability to manage vendors on different levels on production and administrative side.

• Strong communication & negotiation skills (in English).

• Good inter-personal skills & understanding for cross cultural diversity.

• Financial and commercial acumen.

• Digital and technological literacy, understanding of service industry tech stacks (ERP, CRM, Workflow).

• High competency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word).

• Languages:
  Fluent communication skills in English, written and spoken + at least one additional European language (ideally German).
