About the Job
Packsize is seeking an experienced, commercially minded attorney to serve as a Director of Legal and Compliance to support its European operations as part of a globally integrated legal team. This role is focused on providing practical, business-oriented legal support across compliance, commercial contracting, employment, and data privacy matters, while helping to build scalable legal and compliance infrastructure to support continued growth in the region. The role requires a hands-on, responsive professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced business environment, partnering directly with cross-functional teams, and taking ownership of complex matters through execution.
What You’ll Do
Act as legal advisor to the European business
Partner closely with senior leadership to enable commercial decision-making
Drive legal support for strategic transactions and growth initiatives
Support integration initiatives for European acquisitions
Draft and negotiate key commercial agreements across operations, IT, manufacturing, finance, and procurement
Advise on EU employment law, policies, and support Works Council interactions
Lead GDPR and data privacy compliance across Europe Identify and proactively manage legal and compliance risks across the region, including product regulations and safety standards
Support regional corporate governance and corporate records management
Partner with finance in connection with regulatory compliance matters including trade compliance and transfer pricing; coordinate efforts with outside counsel and tax advisors
What You’ll Need
Qualified lawyer in the Netherlands
8+ years’ experience (with a combination of top-tier law firm and in-house experience)
Experience working in a US-headquartered company
Strong background in commercial contract negotiation, EU employment law, and privacy compliance
Experience supporting multi-country operations in Europe
Commercially pragmatic with the ability to balance legal risk and business needs
Flexibility adapting to changing business priorities and supporting time-sensitive matters when
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
Comfortable operating as a hands-on, independent legal leader
Fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to draft and negotiate complex legal agreements at a high professional level
What’s Nice to Have
Experience with Works Councils in the Netherlands or Germany
Fluent in Italian (written & spoken)
Background in manufacturing, technology, or industrial businesses
Experience in international or scaling environments
