Ecommerce Data Scientist

About the role:

The impact you’ll make:

Data Analysis & Problem Solving:

• Own end-to-end analytical projects, from problem definition to delivery of insights and recommendations.


• Translate business questions into structured analytical approaches and measurable outputs.


• Perform deep-dive analyses to identify trends, drivers, and opportunities.

Data Visualization & Storytelling

• Design and build dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI) that enable stakeholders to track and act on key metrics.


• Communicate insights clearly through compelling visualizations and narratives that drive decisions.

Machine Learning & Modelling

• Develop, deploy, and refine predictive models (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, forecasting).


• Evaluate model performance and iterate to improve accuracy and business relevance.


• Take ownership of models in production, including monitoring and maintenance.

Data Collection, Preparation & Management

• Own data collection and preparation processes, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.


• Work with large datasets and shape them into usable formats for analysis and modelling.

Business Collaboration

• Partner closely with teams such as Ecommerce, Marketing, Product, and Operations to identify opportunities and deliver data-driven solutions.


• Analyse ecommerce performance across the funnel (traffic, conversion, retention, revenue) to drive optimization.


• Translate analytical outputs into actionable recommendations that influence business outcomes.

Tools & Technologies

• Use Python, R, SQL, and visualization tools to deliver scalable analytical solutions.


• Work with cloud and data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Databricks) to operationalize analyses.

Continuous Improvement

• Proactively identify opportunities to improve data processes, models, and methodologies.


• Stay current with emerging tools and techniques in data science.

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or related field.


• 5+ years’ experience in data science, ecommerce analytics, or similar roles; in global/multi-market environments preferred.


• Proven ability to independently own and deliver analytical or data science projects.


• Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and modeling.


• Strong SQL skills with the ability to query large, complex datasets.


• Experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and data mining.


• Knowledge of Databricks for data engineering is a plus


• Experience in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).


• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business needs into data solutions


• Effective communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders through data.
