The Sustainable Freight Buyers Alliance (SFBA) is one of Smart Freight Centre’s key initiatives. Our mission? To help freight buyers shift to zero-emissions logistics across all modes of transport. We bring members together to collaborate on decarbonization projects, refine procurement and management practices, engage with innovators, advocate for policy change, and build lasting partnerships.

✏️ About the position:

As Ecosystem Innovation Manager for the Sustainable Freight Buyers Alliance (SFBA), you’ll take the lead in bringing innovative ideas to life. You’ll be responsible for designing, conceptualizing, and executing initiatives that help transform freight sustainability for our members and partners. This role is highly flexible and customer-focused, with a big emphasis on collaboration and agility. Reporting to the Program Manager for SFBA, you’ll work closely together to drive meaningful change in the freight industry.

⭐ Here’s an idea of what tasks you might be working on:

  • Lead the implementation of SFBA initiatives, ensuring they align seamlessly with our organizational goals and vision.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with multinational corporations and partners, forging new collaborations and leveraging your communication and negotiation expertise.
  • Take charge of designing and delivering new initiatives that have the power to transform the logistics sector.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the SFBA team, inspiring innovation and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to uncover opportunities for growth and expansion within SFBA.
  • Create impactful project reports and presentations for funders, stakeholders, and partners, showcasing the success and tangible impact of SFBA initiatives.
⭐ You’re someone who:

  • Has a design-thinking mindset and a results-driven approach.  
  • Thrives on ideating and incubating new initiatives with members and partners.  
  • Loves innovation and is excited to work on the next big transformation in logistics decarbonization.  
  • Learns quickly, adapts easily, and thinks on your feet.  
  • Makes intuitive decisions and is comfortable navigating ambiguity.  
  • Takes a holistic view, seeing the bigger picture across the entire ecosystem.  
  • Is passionate about logistics and sustainability, with a solid understanding (or expertise) in either field.  
  • Communicates effectively, with strong stakeholder management skills that help you build and maintain relationships at all levels.  
  • Brings a deep commitment to sustainability and a drive to positively impact the freight industry.  
  • Is fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).  
  •  Has 5-7 years of experience in design thinking, consultancy, and/or logistics.
