Europol - Application Engineer/Administrator - Deadline 25/04/25

DESCRIPTION OF THE TASKS:

Administration of Europol ICT applications and infrastructure services, including on-premise and containerised environments.

Deployment, configuration and maintenance of business applications and associated system components in production and non-production environments.

2nd level support in coordination with internal ICT teams and external service providers.

Monitoring of application and system performance, tuning and troubleshooting to ensure continuous and stable operations.

Execution of change, release, incident and problem management processes based on ITIL standards.

Automation of routine operational tasks using scripting tools such as PowerShell or Python.

Implementation of application lifecycle management practices using DevOps tools and methodologies.

Administration of Kubernetes clusters and application deployments using Helm charts and operators.

Support and maintenance of configuration management solutions (e.g. Puppet, Ansible).

Drafting and maintaining operational procedures and technical documentation.

Participation in architectural reviews and operational planning activities.

Coordination with infrastructure and database teams to ensure application integrity and availability.

Handling of application-level backups and restoration operations.

Provision of on-call support services during scheduled calendar weeks, including remote interventions.

Security administration and implementation of technical safeguards in accordance with Europol’s internal security policies and clearance-level requirements.

Contribution to the technical knowledge base used by support teams and participation in internal coordination meetings.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION:

Bachelor or Master Degree in Information Technology or a closely related field.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE:

At least 5 years of professional experience in administration and support of Microsoft Windows Server and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux in enterprise environments.

At least 5 years of experience in application administration with a focus on platforms such as SharePoint and/or OpenText Content Server.

At least 5 years of experience in deploying and maintaining ICT applications, including performance tuning and support.

At least 4 years of experience with DevOps tools and scripting for automated deployment (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps, Python, PowerShell).

At least 4 years of experience with Kubernetes administration, including containerized applications, Helm, operators, and pipelines.

At least 2 years of experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Puppet, Ansible).

Experience with integration technologies and protocols (REST APIs, SOAP web services).

Experience with ITIL practices, including incident, change and release management.

Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) – mandatory.

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) – desirable.

Working knowledge of English at level B2 or higher.
