Foundation Seed Crop Specialist 

 

Main Purpose
•    Accountable  and responsible for reliable and timely supply of Foundation Seed  while  achieving the yield and quality targets. 
•    Ensure excellent collaboration with Breeders, Seed production, Farming team , Seed grower in achieving the reliability targets and improving foundation seed production reliability ( quantity, quality and timeliness).
•    Responsible to maintain high level of hygienic controls (CSP/ GSPP), quality of parental lines and maintaining safety in the foundation seed operations at all levels. 
  
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Responsible for managing foundation seeds program for the assigned crops maintaining / improving  reliability, quality, timeliness and cost
•    Maintain inventories in storage and track inventories, shipments and quality information in appropriate database(s), including but not limited to Access, FTS, SAP, FSOne
•    Oversee operations including but not limited to seed preparation, seed sowing, rogueing, harvesting, threshing,  conditioning, seed storage, shipments and assessment of PGO trials 
•    Ensure that all the parental lines are genetically fixed -  work closely with the breeders to evaluate and assess parental lines genetic quality.
•    Ensure high level of collaboration with breeding, regional and global seed production team to accelerate learning needed for successful seed production of new varieties
•    Engage with key stakeholders R&D and Breeding team,  Global production, Field Quality, Production Research and  others to identify improvement opportunities to improve reliability, cost and customer experience. Participate in the key improvement initiatives of global and regional importance
•    Production Data and Analysis - Review quantity, quality, cost and timeliness data and address areas for improvement, simplification, optimization
•    Sharing relevant crop management data / information with  stakeholders and subject matter experts.
•    Assisting Area Lead in annual and multi-year Opex and Capex preparations
•    Guiding and training Foundation Seed Assistants, other team members and grower labors.
•    Ensuring License to Operate by following all the internal and external compliance guidelines  including HSE, ISO 40001, CSP / GSPP, ISO, PGRP etc.

WHO YOU ARE 
•    Bachelor / Master  in Agriculture/  Horticulture or in Agronomy with  2+ years of experience in seed production /  crop management in greenhouses and  managing/guiding/training teams
•    Excellent human relation skills, effective communication skills required. Good knowledge of local language and English is needed
•    Ability to influence all levels in the organization
•    Customer Focus, Innovation & Experimentation, Collaboration and implementation of best practices, Knowledge Sharing 
•    Process Oriented and Results Orientated
•    Fosters use of digital and analytic tools, 
•    Instill Trusts (with all stakeholders)
