Freelance Communications & PR Manager (ZZP)

GIGA Storage is growing rapidly and playing an important role in the energy transition. As we continue to expand, the need for clear, consistent and well-organised communication is growing as well.

We're looking for an experienced hands-on Freelance Communications & PR Manager who can bring structure, ownership and momentum to our communications activities. This is a role for someone who enjoys making things happen: coordinating stakeholders, managing agencies, creating clarity and ensuring communication initiatives move forward.

The assignment

As our Freelance Communications & PR Manager, you’ll step into a broad and highly visible role at the centre of GIGA Storage. You’ll be the person who brings structure, ownership and momentum to our communications activities, working closely with our leadership team, colleagues and external partners.

You’ll help professionalise the way we communicate, both internally and externally. Whether it’s coordinating agencies, supporting events, improving internal communications, strengthening our employer brand or helping shape communication campaigns, you’ll ensure that initiatives move forward and deliver impact.

No two weeks will look the same. That’s exactly what makes this assignment interesting (is what we believe :)). You’ll have the freedom to take ownership, spot opportunities for improvement and help build a communication function that can grow alongside the business.

What you'll be doing

• Own and manage the communication calendar and communication planning

• Coordinate and manage external communication and PR agencies

• Drive PR, corporate communications and employer branding initiatives

• Improve internal communication processes and materials

• Develop internal communication templates, guidelines and best practices

• Support website improvements and content optimisation

• Create, edit and publish communication content where needed

• Coordinate communication projects and campaigns across the business

• Ensure communication activities are delivered on time and with high quality

Who are we looking for?

• Senior experience in communications, PR and marketing

• Experience within a scale-up or fast-growing organisation

• Strong stakeholder and agency management skills

• A hands-on, proactive mentality combined with strong organisational skills

• Experience in both internal and external communications

• Excellent communication skills in English ánd Dutch (required). German speaking is a bonus.

• Energy sector experience is a significant advantage

Practical details

• Freelance / ZZP assignment

• Start date: ASAP

• Duration: Until December 2026

• Workload: 20-24 hours per week

• Location (base): Amsterdam (with occasional presence in the Belgium and German office)

• Hybrid working, with a preference for approximately 2 days per week in the office

• Indicative hourly rate: €85,- to €110,- per hour, depending on experience and sector knowledge
