About the role 

Piano is hiring a marketing leader to drive our next phase of growth. Outstanding products, 1,000+ customers, profitable businesses, and a powerful position in the AI shift. 

You'll own the whole function: demand generation, content and messaging, product marketing, partner marketing, and communications. You'll lead a team based mainly in Europe, report to the CEO, and sit on the executive leadership team. You'll be measured on qualified pipeline, new ARR, and how well the market understands what we do. 

What You’ll do 

• Scale demand generation. The basics are in place. Make the engine reliable, then scale it while managing cost per opportunity. You own the pipeline number and the model behind it. 

• Simplify the story. Our brand is strong and we're proud of it. The product messaging is too complex and too focused on what the products can do. Make customers impact the story instead. 

• One platform, one story. We've built agentic capability, deepened our analytics, and bet on subscription infrastructure. The market still sees a set of products rather than one platform. Change that. 
  

Alongside those: product marketing, partner-sourced pipeline through our technology and agency partners, communications and PR, and our customer events. Business development may also report into this role. If it interests you, tell us. 

We’re looking for somebody who: 

• Led marketing for a B2B software business at scale, as CMO, SVP or equivalent 


• Owned a pipeline number, and can talk funnel math, cost per opportunity and payback because you've been measured on them 


• Scaled a demand generation engine 


• Simplified a complex story across a portfolio that needed to read as one platform 


• Sold globally, and to enterprises in Europe in particular 


• Worked in a PE- or VC-backed company  


• Practical fluency with AI. You've changed how your own team works, and you'll expect the same here 


• A coach, a strong writer, decisive without complete information, and willing to disagree with us 

Nice to have: media, publishing or subscription experience; analytics, customer data or paywall technology 

What your first year will look like:

90 days: your priorities in front of the executive team - what you'd sharpen, scale and stop. 

6 months: simplified messaging live, pipeline growing month over month against a baseline you set in month one. 

12 months: marketing is a dependable source of qualified pipeline, and the market understands what Piano does. 

Where you'll work:

Amsterdam, in office. We'll consider another European Piano office for an exceptional candidate. Relocation is possible and we can support a highly skilled migrant visa — tell us early if that applies to you. Expect regular travel to customers, to our other offices and to industry events.
