What will you do as Global Technical Expert Tanks?

As Global Technical Expert Tanks; you will lead the global tank program by guiding, reviewing and approving the technical solutions related to different types of tanks for safe storage of various products. You will provide the necessary technical support on design, choice of material, constructability and lifecycle management keeping in view the local regulatory requirements and Vopak / international standards. The job involves new build as well as repair/ replacement of existing systems in a cost effective and fit-for-purpose manner.  

Organizational Context

The Global Technical Expert Tanks reports to the Senior Vice President, Global Asset Management & Technology and is one of the five Global Technical Experts within the global department. The department is part of the Global Operations and Customer Care organization.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Lead the global tank turnaround excellence program to improve the tank inspection & maintenance globally within the Vopak network to be the best in the industry

• Support development, lifecycle management and implementation of digital solution for tank inspection & maintenance including tools and dashboard; Vopak is currently in the process of developing and implementing a digital solution with a partner company

• Track and drive performance via KPI dashboard with insights on tank inspection & maintenance and contribute to the monthly reports on sustaining capex

• Provide support in setting up the condition based maintenance programs, including preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, of storage tanks meeting Vopak standards requirements

• Create, maintain and lead an active community of Vopak employees responsible for design and maintenance of storage tanks at terminals / business units to share knowledge and experience and evolve solutions leading to cost savings and outage reductions

• Review & support fit-for-purpose project scopes, cost estimates and outages related to storage tanks inspection and maintenance working closely with the business units 

• Provide prompt support in guiding, reviewing and approving the development of technical solutions on new project involving various types of storage tanks 

• Review and approve the documents/drawings related to design, construction and lifecycle management of atmospheric tanks, low pressure tanks, pressure vessels (spheres and bullets) and refrigerated tanks, for both new build storage tanks as for repair and maintenance

• Lifecycle management of Vopak global standards and technical specifications related to storage tanks and their components in line with the latest editions of the international standards and innovation proven techniques 

• Keep updated with the proven new technologies to bring up those innovative solutions driving cost savings while assuring the integrity of tanks for consideration with a supporting business case 

What do we expect from you as a Global Technical Expert Tanks?

• MSc / BSc degree (mechanical engineering or equivalent)

• 5 years of experience in a similar position within the industry or 10+ years of relevant experience

• Knowledge of tank design, construction, testing, inspection and maintenance according to the latest international standards (e.g. API, EN and EEMUA)

• Aware of and experienced in the latest innovations in tank inspection and maintenance 

• Stakeholder management; proactive networking, ability to inspire, influence & develop people

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
