We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to lead health and safety initiatives across our EMEA locations. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with regional regulations while fostering a culture of physical and psychological safety throughout our workplaces. Collaborating closely with Facilities and cross-functional teams, you will help create environments that prioritize employee well-being, productivity, and inclusivity.
Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all applicable EMEA health, safety, and environmental legislation, alongside global health & safety policies.
Safety Strategy Development: Design and implement a regional safety strategy that aligns with global objectives and caters to local operational risks and regulations. Translate strategy into actionable programs, policies, and KPIs.
Workplace Design Collaboration: Partner with Facilities and Workplace teams to ensure ergonomic, inclusive, and well-being-focused work environments. Influence design and implementation of new offices, industrial sites, refurbishments, and relocations for safety and psychological comfort.
Psychological Safety & Culture: Champion initiatives that promote mental health, psychological safety, and respectful workplace practices through collaboration with HR and leadership.
Policy Development & Implementation: Lead the creation and rollout of health, safety, and well-being programs tailored to diverse EMEA regions and workplace settings.
Risk Management: Conduct thorough physical and psychosocial risk assessments; recommend and implement mitigation strategies. Work with Facilities to improve lighting, ventilation, acoustics, and space utilization.
Training & Engagement: Develop and deliver training programs addressing safety procedures, psychological safety, mental health awareness, and ergonomic best practices in line with global standards.
Incident Investigation: Lead incident and near-miss investigations focusing on root cause analysis and prevention. Support mental health incident response plans.
KPI Monitoring & Reporting: Track key safety performance metrics, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
Safety Management System: Design, implement, and enhance a Safety Management System aligned with ISO standards (including ISO 45001 and ISO 45003), ensuring documentation and accountability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, IT, Legal, Risk Management, and Operations to deliver an integrated and holistic employee safety experience.
Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor.
A NEBOSH diploma and/or NVQ level 6 are a big plus.
Minimum 7 years of safety leadership experience, with exposure to multi-site or international roles across EMEA.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Facilities, Workplace, and Real Estate teams.
Familiarity with psychological health and safety standards (ISO 45003).
Excellent intercultural communication and leadership skills.
Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30–50% within the region.
