About the department
The Department of Philosophy at Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences (TSHD) focuses on philosophy that is relevant to the contemporary societal and scientific challenges we face, combining rigorous philosophical analysis with openness to insights from other disciplines. The department organizes its research in four clusters: Ethics, Business and Justice; Mind, Cognition and Embodiment; Science, Knowledge and Technology; and Arts, Culture and Power. Teaching across Tilburg University is central to our mission: besides our own Bachelor's and Master's programs in Philosophy, we teach philosophy courses to students throughout the university, including in psychology, economics, social sciences, and artificial intelligence.
Your position
We are looking for a lecturer (or lecturers) to teach a subset of the courses below, starting as soon as possible. The ability to teach one of the first two courses is required; the ability to teach one of the other two is a strong advantage. Supervisory experience is a must.
In addition, you will supervise Bachelor's and/or Master's theses.
There is room for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position, though we are also open to a part-time appointment (starting with one day a week) — see the application procedure below for how to indicate your availability.

Your application should include a CV, a brief (1 page) letter of motivation, and a short (1 page) set-up proposal for the courses History of Economic Thought and/or Ethics (Master's Philosophy) — we do not need and will not look at proposals for the other two courses.
In your letter, please state how many days per week you are available; we welcome candidates who would also consider an appointment for fewer days. As part of the selection procedure, shortlisted candidates will be asked to give a trial lecture (proef-college) for the hiring committee. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis and the vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate has been found — early application is encouraged.
