Job Description - Junior Sustainability Consultant

We are looking for an energetic, creative and delivery-oriented junior consultant for ING NL’s Center of Expertise (CoE) Sustainability. The team

The team’s purpose is to raise the bar on sustainability. Being it Financial Health or Planetary Health. This specific role will focus on the activities related to Planetary Health in its widest context, for example climate or biodiversity.

The team consists of 11 colleagues within 3 expertise areas, Planetary Health, Financial Health and our corporate foundation: the ING Nederland fonds. With our Planetary Health team we are the catalyst for change that’s needed to help raise the bar for sustainability. Within the company – doing more than we thought we could, and outside the company – doing more than others thought we could. We share our expertise, activate colleagues, and engage external stakeholders. All in the pursuit of sustainable progress for all.

Roles and Responsibilities

As Sustainability Consultant Planetary Health your responsibilities include:

  • support and advice the development and implementation of ING’s ESG strategy in order to reach our sustainability goals with a focus on planetary health

  • perform peer analyses in the (Dutch) banking landscape related to ESG commitments and product offerings

  • prepare presentations for various key stakeholders, including conferences, panels, townhalls, and also materials for ING colleagues to use in client conversations

  • prepare and facilitate town halls and deep dive sessions to engage with our colleagues on sustainability topics

  • collaborate with communications department on sustainability-related communications 

  • support employee engagement on sustainability, and supporting internal sustainability events

  • project management of various projects; for example ING’s self-assessment for Ecovadis rating or improvements in our communication channels

Furthermore:

  • Master’s degree and 2-5 years relevant working experience, in sustainability or consulting

  • You know how to build and use an in(ex)ternal network to collaborate on execution of projects

  • A sharp pen and consultancy skills. You are an excellent communicator and creative in engaging varied audiences effectively. You know how to generate inspiring content, presentations and short and snappy briefings and reports in PowerPoint, and Word

  • Strong interest and ability to grasp complex and data heavy content, high end analytical skills and open to use innovative tooling to make non-standard analysis in a field which is constantly changing (both in stakeholder expectations as in data availability and quality)

  • Curious professional, who is investigative and learns quickly whilst also being goal-oriented and flexible in the solutions

  • Able to work autonomously and to plan, organize, prioritize, and oversee activities to efficiently meet business objectives while working on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Fluent in written and spoken Dutch and English
