Do you have a background in photograph conservation and are you enthusiastic about teaching this subject? Than this is a perfect position for you! The capacity group Conservation and Restoration is looking for a lecturer to teach in the track photograph conservation of our Masters (MSc) and Advanced Professional Programme (APP) of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritageenter track.
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic colleague to join our photograph conservation team, someone who enjoys guiding students towards entering the conservation profession, and who likes to take on responsibility for the quality of education in close collaboration with the rest of the team.
Together with the other lecturer within the photograph conservation specialisation, you will be involved in educating this specialisation’s students in the Master and Advanced Professional Program (APP), guiding them in the development of academic and practical knowledge and skills with inspiring lectures and workshops, based on to the latest insights. You will also teach an introduction to photograph conservation in the BA minor programme Conservation and Restoration. You will furthermore supervise student conservation treatments, internships, and mentor and advise students during their 4 years of study. Depending on your background and time available, you may also contribute to programme-wide courses by providing the perspective of a photograph conservator (e.g. to courses in science, historical source research or ethics and theory).
As the successful candidate, you will join a dynamic context where you can learn about innovative teaching methods. In your teaching, you have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers and lecturers in our team that covers ten different specialisations.
You will be working in a dynamic team of 30 colleagues, all fascinated about all aspects of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. The heart of UvA C&R facilities are the specialisation conservation studios in the Studio Building (Ateliergebouw, Hobbemastraat), the building shared with the RCE and the Rijksmuseum, and the laboratories in the Humanities Labs (on Kloveniersburgwal). The shared facilities of the Studio Building catalyse intense and low-threshold cooperation with both RCE and the Rijksmuseum (guest lectures and workshops, cooperation in object-based research). Rijksmuseum, RCE and UvA are all partners in the network organisation NICAS – Netherlands Institute for Art, Conservation, Science.
