Job Description

As Optical Lead Engineer at NTS Optel, you are responsible for creating advanced optical designs based on customer requirements. You work closely with the System Architect and a multidisciplinary team to translate requirements into feasible optical concepts. The work starts with defining optical layouts and evolves into selecting components and designing custom lenses, ultimately resulting in a fully assembled and validated prototype.

Furthermore, your key responsibilities are:

• Designing and developing high-tech optical modules and systems for various markets and applications;

• Translating customer requirements into feasible and manufacturable optical concepts;

• Setting up and executing feasibility studies and optical experiments in early project phases, as well as validating prototypes;

• Creating optical layouts, running simulations, and developing custom lens designs (preferably in Zemax);

• Supporting prototype build, alignment, and system integration activities.

Job Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field;

• At least 7 years of experience in optical design and simulation (e.g. Zemax or comparable tools), preferably in OEM or high-tech system environments;

• Strong conceptual thinking skills combined with attention to detail, creativity, and a structured working style;

• Hands-on experience with optical test setups, alignment, and experimental validation;

• Strong communication skills, able to operate effectively with both technical colleagues and external customers.
