Job Description - Product Area Lead Fraud Management

To keep our customers safe, we need strong strategic leadership, robust fraud management capabilities and a clear global direction. This is where the Product Area Lead Fraud Management comes in.

The team

The Global Fraud Management team leads ING’s global strategy to prevent and detect fraud across all products and countries. The Product Area Lead works at the centre of this team, driving key initiatives such as global process harmonisation and the rollout of the Fraud Case Management system, which strengthen customer protection and reduce fraud losses. The team operates in a collaborative, international environment that values expertise, innovation and continuous improvement, empowering fraud professionals worldwide to deliver consistent, scalable fraud‑management solutions.

Roles and responsibilities

  • The Product Area Lead Fraud Management is responsible for fraud management globally across all products, channels and customer segments. You set and implement the Global Fraud Management Requirements, ensure compliance with fraud‑related policies and regulations, define global processes, and drive the rollout of ING’s Fraud Case Management system across all countries.

  • The Product Area Lead Fraud Management steers global fraud capabilities, coach global product experts, defines and evolves the fraud roadmap, and manages a broad set of internal and external stakeholders, from regulators to global risk leaders. You empower fraud professionals across all ING entities to thrive, grow and deliver world-class protection for our customers.

  • The Product Area Lead Fraud Management is also ING’s mandatory fraud‑risk acceptance authority for all product and process changes globally. You report hierarchically to the Global Head of Fraud.

As the Product Area Lead Fraud Management, you:

1. Own end-to-end global fraud management:

  • Define and continuously evolve ING’s global fraud management vision, strategy and standards.

  • Stay ahead of external market developments, fraud trends, regulatory requirements and technology innovations such as AI, in close conjunction with Head of Strategy & Business Insights.

2. Drive global delivery & process excellence

  • Set Global Fraud Management Requirements across (Credit) Cards, e‑Banking, Lending, Business Banking and Wholesale Banking, to manage external and internal fraud.

  • Own the Global fraud processes and oversee the global rollout of target fraud processes and the Fraud Case Management system.

  • Optimize and automate fraud processes and enable case completion by customer through Smart Warnings & Interactive notifications

3. Steer strategic roadmaps & global prioritization

  • Manage global deliverables through QBR cycles and product roadmap prioritization

  • Balance fraud risk, customer protection, technology dependencies and business needs.

  • Act as the mandated fraud risk owner for global change processes.

4. Protect ING and its customers

  • Secure compliance with ING policies, global control standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Own the Global Fraud risk assessment for new products and propositions.

  • Own the Global Fraud management control standard.

  • Reduce fraud losses, mitigate risk exposure and strengthen customer trust.

5. Lead and develop global teams

  • Lead a team of Product Lead and 10-20 Fraud Management experts

  • Develop talent, strengthen craftsmanship globally and create an environment where people thrive.

  • Build a high-performing, globally aligned fraud management community.

6. Manage a complex global stakeholder network

  • Work closely with COO, Retail, Risk, CSI, Tech, KYC and local Fraud teams.

A strategic, analytical and adaptive leader with expertise in fraud management and a passion for (customer) process design. Someone who inspires, empowers and builds strong global teams, and who is not afraid to challenge the status quo or make tough decisions when needed.

As the Product Area Lead Fraud Management, you are able to:

  • Build and lead diverse global teams with strong fraud expertise and process design capabilities.

  • Communicate clearly and influence senior stakeholders across countries and domains.

  • Navigate complex regulatory and organizational environments.

  • Think strategically while acting swiftly when new fraud threats emerge.

  • Harmonize processes and ensure globally scalable fraud solutions.

  • Translate future opportunities for the fraud management domain (e.g., AI, new regulation) into concrete strategies.

  • Foster engagement and create a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Furthermore, you have:

  • A Master’s degree.

  • At least 10 years of experience in fraud, payments, process design (Black Belt), analytics or similar fields.

  • Strong affinity with process-thinking and risk control management

  • Experience in leading global change and building scalable processes.

  • A strong analytical mindset and the ability to explain complex matters simply.

  • Experience in product management, risk management and policymaking.

  • Professional certifications (CFE) are a plus.

  • An excellent command of English.
