Job Description - Quantitative Meteorologist (m/f/d)

Your mission

You’ll work closely with both meteorologists and engineers to develop smart, scalable forecasting tools. This means applying AI and data science to large atmospheric datasets and helping put modern, well-engineered infrastructure in place. You don’t need to be a trained forecaster, but a solid grasp of meteorology and enthusiasm for the field is essential.
This role is ideal for someone who’s comfortable translating research ideas into robust software and wants to apply their skills in a highly practical setting.

Your profile

What You’ll Do

Build AI-based models to improve the accuracy and usability of weather forecasts.
Set up and maintain infrastructure to support large-scale geospatial data analysis and modelling.
Work with forecasters and energy traders to understand what’s needed and help design tools that meet those needs.
Collaborate with developers to integrate weather models into our trading systems.
Develop and maintain pipelines for both real-time and historical weather data.
Stay on top of the latest developments in data science, AI, and atmospheric modeling.

What We’re Looking For
Technical Skills

Strong Python skills, especially for data and machine learning (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
Experience working with large datasets and building models for real-world applications.
Familiarity with HPC systems and/or cloud-based computing environments.

Problem Solving

Able to work independently and in a team, bridging different disciplines.
Comfortable experimenting and iterating to find practical solutions.

Background

Degree in Meteorology, Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields.
Experience with weather or geospatial data formats like GRIB or NetCDF.
A strong interest in weather and an understanding of how the atmosphere works.
